Why DACA is Beneficial?

Categories: America

Before the program DACA was established, many undocumented teenagers didn't have much benefits as they do now. DACA was established by the former president Barack Obama, whom helped undocumented teenagers have better opportunities in the U.S and be protected from deportation. In order to be eligible, it does consist of some requirements they need to obtain. For example, in order to apply, the minimum age required is the age of 16 or before. While American citizens get job opportunities for being citizens, DACA helps undocumented teenagers have a better life.

Great opportunities are provided to them such as health care insurance, temporary work permits, families being more stabilized, it gives dreamers a better education and they don't have to be afraid anymore of their immigration status.

Currently, DACA provides health care insurance for undocumented teenagers. By providing this it helps them with less costs for families. For example, in How DACA has improved the lives of Undocumented young people it states, “In California, as many as 127,000 DACA recipients qualify to enroll in exclusively state funded Medi-Cal programs”.

Many Californian teenagers have been getting the rights they deserve under the program DACA because on how it gives them more health care benefits. Also, by getting health care insurance low income families will not have to worry about the cost of their members health by the programs being provided to the undocumented teenagers.

Health care coverage has to do with the immigration status which all of the dreamers qualify too. For example, it states in New York State of Health, “ individuals with DACA status and those with rescinded DACA status, may be eligible for state funded Medicaid under an immigration category”. Undocumented teenagers which are called dreamers under the program DACA may qualify in New York for health coverage because of their immigration status. By states giving this type of help to the dreamers it is show an amount of change which will be very helpful because having health insurance is a big impact in society. It is a big impact because many dreamers wont have to pay for attending a clinic or any other medical places. This is helpful for the dreamers because it makes their lives better by the help they get. Getting a better life opportunity with DACA is very beneficial because without DACA they wouldn't have many advantages as they have now.

Many immigrants come to the U.S for a better opportunity that the American dream provides like a better paying job. Teenagers come to this country at a young age because of their parents wanting better opportunities that they didn't get where they originally came from. With DACA those teenagers are able to have a temporary work permit that guarantees them a good job. For example, as stated in How DACA has improved the lives of undocumented people it states,“Under DACA, undocumented youth are able to apply for and receive temporary work permits...it means being able to exit the informal economy and to move on to better paying jobs”. The temporary work permits guarantees a better job where many dreamers will be getting better paying. This means many dreamers won’t suffer from poverty because of the low amount in money their family makes. Also, by receiving work permits it means teenagers have rights that the American people do because being undocumented your not allowed to have beneficial rights as you do when DACA is being provided. For example, In the article Are DACA recipients stealing jobs away from other Americans it states, “DACA recipients are relatively well-educated, meaning they have the capacity to make the economy that much more productive”. In this quote it talks about how dreamers are officially having the right of being noticed because of the education they get, and by that education they are able to make this country more productive. Having a much more productive country means that the economy will grow with the help of the dreamers. This guarantees that by DACA recipients having a work permit is useful to make the U.S economy much better; it doesn't mean they take American job opportunities.

Many americans may say that by allowing the DACA program guaranteeing a work permit is going to take job opportunities away from them when in reality it isn't true because in this country everyone needs a job in order to not suffer from poverty. Most immigrants who are teenagers work in the agriculture which does not allow them to earn enough money but with DACA it does not take job opportunities away it actually makes families become more stable. For example, in the article DACA=Better jobs, stabled families a 20 year old Californian says, “I received DACA, I graduated from high school, I got the chance to go to college and, now I have a well paying job to be able to help my father sustain our family”. Now that DACA recipients are able to work in better jobs it helps them with their family because they won't suffer from poverty as much. Without the program many teenagers like this 20 year old Californian wouldn't be able to help their family as much if they didn't go to college. Now that many people have DACA families lives change as well as that person who is able to pursue a career. If they take DACA away from teenagers they won't be able to help their family as well like they do now. For example, in Families and DACA it states, “the removal of DACA will harm 800,000 individuals and their families...notes that removing DACA will generate unemployment for young workers who support their families and relatives”. With the removal of DACA as president Trump tries to eliminate many people will be unemployed and loose their dream job they deserve. This also causes the lack of help teenagers will give to their families because without a good paying job they won't be able to help them as they wish they would. Many teenagers need DACA to help their families because having an immigrations status many undocumented aren't able to have a good job; being in DACA guarantees a better life style to the teenager and their family for their improvements on living. This shows the benefits DACA gives to teenagers and if they take DACA away many would lose the help they need and they would have to start all over again with a low paying job.

Education has improved in many teenagers life because by DACA allowing teenagers to pursue an education is a step for success they deserve. Education is very important in a humans life because it allows people to have a career they want and by having a career they get to have a good job. For example, in How DACA Has Improved the Lives of Undocumented Young People it states, “In some states, such as Arizona, DACA recipients can enroll in some public community colleges at in-state tuition rates”. Having more chances to attend a college is increasing to DACA recipients because of the help they will be receiving and the new set of laws states provide. Applying to a college is being allowed for dreamers is what the quote is trying to explain. Also, having more chances to be in a college can cause more students to attend school because it gives them an opportunity to succeed in their lives which shows that they are cared by others. In the article Recipients of dead ‘DACA’ program reap education benefits, study says “ 15 percent increase in high school graduation rates, a 45 percent drop in teenage births, a 3 percent increase in the school attendance of high school age students, and a 22 percent increase in college enrollment”. The percentage of high school graduation have increased because of the motivation students get when they have DACA. This shows them that the are going to be able to pursue a career. College enrollment have increased also because now that they have DACA it is an opportunity for them to have an education and by that it means to attend college to have a good job. This is a big goal for them because being educated is very important and it is unfair others can have that opportunity and not the undocumented. Another article called DACA helps undocumented students access higher education it states, “with the social security number they receive as part of DACA, students can fill out a free application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, and recieve their Expected family Contribution number”. Having DACA can help students attend a college of their own choice because they will be receiving financial aid help like others do. FAFSA helps students financially and especially of those who are from low income families and to apply for this students need a social security. Now that DACA gives social security to the dreamers they are able to apply and get the help they deserve in order to have a better education.

Feeling more comfortable in the United States has had a big impact on many dreamers. Knowing that they don't have to be afraid from deportation has been a relief to them. As stated in the article How DACA has improved the lives of undocumented young people it states, “DACA recipients can be more comfortably move through their daily routines:sixty-six percent of respondents to one survey agreed to the statement, I feel more like I belong to the U.S”. By having protection because of being in DACA many dreamers feel that they don't have to be scared anymore and that they belong to this country. Feeling like they belong in the U.S is a huge impact because it show how comfortable they are becoming by being in this program and before they had to hide in order to not be deported. When teenagers have to hide it means that they are scared to give their information because of their immigration status. But now that is changing because they get to have peace and they are willing to collaborate in any events. A nineteen year old Californian says in DACA=Better Jobs, Stabled Families that, “DACA gave me more confidence in myself...DACA is an ally to the undocumented students. Not only do I feel safe with DACA but it also gave me a lot of strength on not giving up”. Getting out of their comfort zone made many DACA recipients proud because it makes them not give up on what they want. Not giving up is something many DACA recipients don't do because of having this program it makes them want to work harder and not feel discomfort any more. This benefits them the dreamers because to feel like you belong in the United States is a big goal that the government has accomplished. Each dreamer has a dream they need to accomplish and by doing that they need to feel safe and motivated. DACA is a motivation that teenagers have on not giving up and not being afraid anymore because of their immigration status.

In conclusion, DACA is very beneficial because it helps undocumented teenagers who are called dreamers in many ways. People protest that DACA should be eliminated because it harms many U.S citizen when it's not true because they don't understand that these dreamers deserve to get the help they need like the American do. Yes, DACA doesn't guarantee a permanent resident but it does guarantee a temporary work permit which allows the dreamers to qualify for a good job. Also, it benefits by providing health care, having family more stablized, an education and not being afraid anymore because of their immigration status Not being afraid to show who they really are has changed because before DACA they weren't anything but people who were scared to be deported and now they can be free knowing that DACA protect them from deportation, For all these reasons DACA is a program that is very helpful to those who were bought at a young age and weren't able to qualify in any things Americans were able to.
