Educating people about how to save water, energy, and plastics can reduce the effect it has on earth. Some people think water is a natural resource. Why do we need to save it? The answer is because people use up our planets fresh water faster than it can naturally be replenished. Everybody can save water by changing everyday behavior such as not letting the faucet run while you are brushing your teeth. Fixing faucets around the house is another way to reduce wasting valuable drinking water.
These small actions alone could save about thirty gallons of water a day. Minor changes in your everyday actions can help to save even more water reducing the time you spent in the shower by 10 minutes could add up to thirty saved gallons per year. To save energy, you could turn all the lights off when you leave the room even if you are coming back. Turn your video game system and the TV set off, instead of changing the channel when done playing. Also, battery chargers should be unplugged when they are not being used. Share a television set if two people are watching the same thing, rather than watch it in two different rooms Saving fuel is easier when you plan your schedules such as bus schedules or a carpooling schedule. For example, If people living in metropolitan areas alone would turn to public transport, rather than their personal cars, oil fields a year could be spared. Our fuel is mainly based on natural resources which developed over huge periods on the Earth. We, therefore, have only limited amounts of those fossil fuel resources at our disposal. That is why we should ride buses or walk to get somewhere.
Recycling is important in today’s world if we want to leave this planet for our future generations. It is good for the environment since we are making new products from the old products which are of no use to us. Recycling begins at home. If you are not throwing away any of your old product and instead utilizing it for something new then you are actually recycling. When you think of recycling you should really think about the whole idea; reduce, reuse and recycle. We’ve been careless up to this point with the way we’ve treated the Earth and its time to change; not just the way we do things but the way we think. Our earth produces enough resources to meet all of our needs, but it does not produce enough resources to meet all of our wants. And whether you consider yourself an environmentalist or not, it is tough to argue with the fact that consuming more resources than the earth can replenish is not a healthy trend especially when it is completely unnecessary. Through deforestation, urbanization, industrialization, and pollution, our environment is being destroyed. Flows of energy, nutrients, and other elements are disrupted. Global warming and climate changes are the major threats to Earth and all human beings. Due to carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases emitted by civilization, heat is building up in the atmosphere at a rate not seen for tens of millions of years.
Everyone in America needs to recycle, to help the landfill problem, help the environment, and help produce new products from recycled goods. In America, there is about two-hundred and eight tons of residential and commercial trash generated a year, 4.3 pounds per person a day. This is an overwhelming amount of trash produced yearly. When people recycle this number can be drastically cut. But many people do not practice and use recycling. Consumers and businesses should use the three R’s recycle, reuse, and recharge. Consumers and businesses are producing more garbage than ever before. As a result, we are rapidly running out of landfill space.
