The United States has a history of involving itself in controversial foreign wars including Korea and Vietnam . Today, they find themselves entangled in centuries of pre existing conflict in the middle east, namely between Israel and Palestine. Many are concerned with whether or not this war is a necessary involvement or merely the United States overstepping their boundaries. The United States is right in the sense of involving themselves in the Middle Eastern wars to combat ermerging terrorism, but supporting Israel has ultimately done more harm than good.
This type of violence is unjustifiable because although the US is helping counter-terrorism, they have destabilized the conflict between Israel and Palestine heavily and lost substantial resources. The US has a long history of supporting Israel dating back to just after the second world war. President Truman recognized Israel which allowed them to become a nation state.
As a new, small nation, they found themselves susceptible to an easy destruction by stronger, more volatile countries surrounding.

The US aid prevented this (Doran). However, as Israel grew stronger, they began to abuse their power helped garnered by the US by attacking other nations, such as Palestine and Egypt (Doran) . Another reason why the United States had supported Israel was to counter terrorism supported by Palestine, which is a long time enemy of Israel on the basis of religion. However, by supporting Israel, they have brought even more conflict to the Middle Weremchuk 2 East. The United States is not even preventing conflict with their presence because the Middle East “has always been a theater for great-power competition (Satloff).
” It is unjustifiable for the United States to allow their troops to die in a war that has existed for centuries and has no basis for ending soon .
The Israelis are using long established religious beliefs to justify the invasions of other countries. Conversely, Palestine is defending the land that had been theirs in the past. Prior to Israel being a nation state, the land had belonged to Palestine. Then after WWII and the displacement of the Jewish people, resettled in the land that they claim to have been rightfully theirs (Indyk). Both sides are using conflict that has existed for an incredibly long time and is projected to percist for the future. The US involvement is not going to remedy this. Terrorism has plagued the United States for decades, escalating to its height in the early 21st century with the 9/11 bombings. Since then, they have focused on eliminating terrorism with much success. Despite all of this, they still have wasted resources and lives in the Israel Palestine conflict. This war has no sign of stopping if ever. The basis for the war goes back centuries (Shalaim).
By siding with Israel, they have also killed an enormous amount of innocent Palestinians. The Us has also become so invested in the conflict that it would be incredibly difficult to pull out now. According to Martin Indyk, “Israel's border with Syria had been quiet for almost four decades after Kissinger negotiated the Israeli-Syrian disengagement agreement in 1974.” This alone proves that a diplomatic approach is possible between these hostile countries if approached in the right way. But for the United States to insert themselves into a war that they have no foundation in is completely inexcusable. In Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth ultimately kill Duncan out of a grasp for power. This is an example of unjustifiable violence. Justifiable violence would be Macduff killing Macbeth for his crimes.
In this analogy, Weremchuk 3 Macbeth would align with the United States, imposing their military power into a war that they should not be in. Israel has a history of abusing its help from the United States by imposing itself on other countries and attempting to conquer more territory. This has been occurring for an incredibly long time, even “In 1956, Egypt lost a second war to Israel (Doran) . ” Due to US interference, Israel has gone out in pursuance of conquest of the Middle East. They believe that their religion dictates the land is rightfully theirs. The US has sunk their teeth into this matter so deeply that it is incredibly difficult for them to return to the status quo. They have tried to over the years, gradually lowering the amount of troops and resource allocation given to these countries, but their dependence has ultimately grown too high. However, the countries that they are pulling out of are countries such as Iraq and Syria, who need the aid more than Israel which the United States is putting more effort into.
A congressional bill brought about by Marco Rubio states “The President is authorized to enter into a cooperative project agreement with Israel to develop technology to counter unmanned aerial vehicles.” This shows that the United States is actively aiding Israel in military endeavors which instead of fighting terrorism, they will use to fight Palestine amongst other countries. This religious conflict is another type of unjustifiable violence. The Palestinians had their land taken by Israel on the basis of ancient history. There should be no reason for them to have to leave after residing there for an incredibly long amount of time.Many believe that aiding Israel by advancing military technology will lead to the removal of terrorism in the area.
However, Israel is not using the technology for the intended purpose. They continually use the US aid to attack other countries that are not plagued by terrorism and attempting to expand their territory. Another reason why the US continues to support Israel is simply because they have a long history together. They have helped each other in the past and continue to expand their relationship. Turning our backs on them now is not possible. Truman should not have started relations in the first place. It has done more harm than good throughout the past century or so. It can be ceded that the US involvement in other countries is justifiable. Countries such as Syria and Iran are incredibly plagued by terrorism and this has drastically hurt the United States in the past. The 9/11 bombings and the kidnappings of journalists, etc . all shows how terrorism is a threat (Satloff) . ” This side of the argument is the Macduff, or the justifiable violence. Because these countries have wronged us in the past in terrible ways, it is justifiable for us to enact violence back.
Macduff’s family was killed in response to Macbeth sending murderers to his residence. He also had the weight of all of the other deaths in the play, such as Duncan and Banquo. The United States has a history of controversial wars, as stated previously. The Vietnam war was highly controversial because of the draft. Many of the young people didn’t believe in the war and were forced to go overseas and fight. An example of a justifiable war would be both the second world war. In this war, the US was not initially involved in. However, once the Japanese bombed pearl harbor, everything changed. Because the United States was directly impacted by the war, they got involved . This same mentality should be applied to war in the Middle East. Because terrorists directly impacted the US, aid should only be provided to those Weremchuk 5 countries . The conflict between Israel and Palestine had not impacted the United States and therefore should not be interfered with. Ultimately, The United States has made some mistakes in the past regarding alliances and aid .
This is pertinent to the conflict in the Middle East. The United States should only have aided countries plagued by terrorism . The conflict between Israel and Palestine should have been left alone because it has existed for centuries and will not stop any time soon . They are not causing a rift in the conflict and making it worse . Although they allowed Israel to gain footing as a new country in the unstable Middle East, they continued to supply support and they abused this power. Over the past few decades, Israel has attempted conquest over the area and has started numerous wars with countries such as Egypt. This type of involvement is not justifiable violence and the resources are troops that have been expended have not been worth the effort . The conflict has not directly impacted the United States and should have been left alone.
