My Family and Experience in Life

My name is Toh WiYang. I am 20 years old. My family is made up of my father,mother,grandmother and a elder and younger siblings. I believe that I deserve to be one of the recipient of your scholarship because i have been putting continuous effort and commitment in my study although i am not gifted.Moreover,I joined a NGO to become a scout member since the first year of my secondary school. Throughout my secondary school life, process of transforming from a recruit to the Vice-President is indeed a meaningful and inspiring experience.

I can still remember vividly that i was trained under the scorching sun non-stop which lasted for few hours when i had my first attempt on the marching competition.Although being an active scout member is tiring as i did not want to overlook my academic performance , but the overall experience is definitely remarkable and exceptional. Sharing good and bad times with my teammates is one of the reasons that we are still bonded so closely until today.

After all, becoming a scout simply just shapes me to be a better person with plenty of good values. Eventually, my goal is as simple as completing my study in chemical engineering and working in environmental field. Improving people's life and minimise the disruption towards the nature is all i wanted as environment problems are long-term global issues since long time ago. This is meaningful as i can do my part of responsible to conserve and preserve a better environment for the future generation.

This scholarship is crucial to me as it lessens the financial burdens of my parents.Tuition fees in private education institution for degree courses are quite expensive.

Recently, my father who is the pillar of my family collapsed. Unfortunately my father was diagnosed as having brain aneurysm in Hospital Sultanah Aminah and it ruptured causing subarachnoid hemorrhage. Even though a brain surgery has been carried out successful, the post-surgery symptoms and side-effects still are giving a bad time to my father.Several serious infections caused by CRE bacteria which is the main factor that my father is still not able to follow simple command from us.Needless to talk about continue working, even full recovery is a great challenge now based on his condition.

My family loses all the sources of income in just a night when the mishap happened as my mother stop working also to take care of my father in the hospital everyday. We are lucky enough to receive help from my relatives but i believe that it is far not enough.Also, I hope that i could finish my undergraduate course without depending too much on my family to ease their burden.
