Understanding Of Word "Love"

Categories: Love

Since the beginning of time the word ‘Love’ claims its existence and proves to the world that nothing and no one can over thrown its fame. It is undeniable that if one starts talking about love everybody can relate. We all wish for a happy ending in our love stories but we have to face the fact that everything might not go as we wish it to be even if how much we work on it. As Catullus said,” It is difficult to put aside a long-standing love; it is difficult, but somehow you must do it.

” Our destiny lies in our own hands. We must not let somebody do it for us.

After all, it is our own love story that matters in the end. Love gains many definitions as time passed by. Sometimes we find it hard to define and even disagree to the definition stated in the dictionary. Why this happens? It is simply because we tend to associate our own experience and perception to the word that sometimes we forgot to see the reality.

Likewise, the song strengthens the belief that love is a feeling that should be shown and not to be kept and left unexpressed. A. Love as a theme in literature and songs and dance A very popular theme in literature and songs and dance is “Love’.

This can easily capture the heart of the readers and the listeners. Young or old, rich or poor, educated or illiterate, knows how to feel love. Love can make us feel all the emotions and feelings. The way to achieve everlasting love has been taught in many different ways, yet there has been no permanent way or real solution on how to keep it. Many artworks and literature tried to show the various habits on expressing love. The story of Cupid and Psyche is one of the most popular story is Mythology that shows what true love is. B. A novel and at the same time a movie by Nicholas Sparks that earns hundreds of dollars from bookstores down to movie cinemas. That’s How You Know is the song that gave life to the movie Enchanted. Brief summary of the novel/movie The Notebook is a movie that is inspired from the novel bearing the same title. The movie/novel tells the story of an everlasting and unconditional love of the young couple who became fond of each other.

Noah Calhoun, a poor young man from North Carolina, fell in love with Allie Nelson, who is a rich and attractive. Noah’s heart desire for her the moment he laid his eyes to her in the carnival. He asked for a date however, Allie declined because she did not know Noah yet. Noah who did not want to end the night without her yes, he threatened her that he will let himself fall from the ferris wheel. Allie having no choice said yes. She was amazed how this lad wooed her. That was the start of their summer love romance. However, when Allie’s parents heard that their daughter had an affair to a poor man they decided to separate the lovers.

Allie went to New York where she studied while Noah entered as an army. Noah wrote Allie every day from the time Allie left but the latter never saw even a glimpsed of these letters. Noah thought that Allie no longer loves him because she did not reply to him. Allie thought the same thing also since she received no letter from him. After many years, these two hearts never had a closure to each other. Allie is now engaged to a young soldier named Lon. While she was busy preparing for her upcoming wedding, her eyes caught the picture of a man who was praised because of his achievements.

That man was no other than but Noah. She then decided to see him. Their first encounter was a shaky one. They were able to talk about their relationship. Allie admitted that she is engaged and could no longer be attached to him again. However, her heart yearns to be with him. Allie’s mother went after her. She told her own story to Allie to help her on decide. Allie was turned between her words to Lon and her love to Noah. In the end, Allie realized that Noah is her life and he would complete her life. She went back to him and they had a wonderful life. II. Aspects of Romantic Love as shown in the song and its dance

A. Search for love The song has its own way of expressing how obscure love can be. Sometimes we did not know it is love and we only realized it when it is gone. That is the sad irony of love. We are all looking forward of falling in love. Just like in the song, Giselle was sent to the real world to look for true love that can bring her back to life for she is bound to die. The kiss of her true prince will save her from her fate. She thought that her prince is the person who saved her in her house however; she discovered that it was not him after all. Indeed, love comes in mysterious ways and unexpectedly.

Giselle never suspects that the person who sheltered her for a while is her true love. Moreover, she cannot deny the feeling of jealousy when she saw him dancing with his fiancee. B. Expressing love The song That’s How You Know gave us some idea on how to know that it is love that we are feeling and how to show love. A simple note of love can make us go crazy. Flowers and songs can melt our hearts out. A lover will always find a way to express his love to his beloved. It is true right? We believe that love should always be shown. It should not be kept unsaid. We all want to feel and know that we are love.

Moreover, if we cannot feel the love that we long for we tend to be sorry and bitter in life. Nevertheless, ones we are showered with love nothing can compare the happiness that we felt and it seems everything is perfect. Love can change a person. We have a tendency to do the things that we think is right when we are in love notwithstanding the big No of our parents. We become in control of everything because we believe that is the best way of showing our love. III. Aspects of Romantic Love as shown in the movie A. Love at first sight A very exciting feeling that teenagers felt in their young hearts is love at first sight.

Butterflies in the stomach, fast heartbeat, sweating of palms and tension are just among the feelings we usually associate on this feeling. A deep sigh will certainly follows and a declaration of, “I’d finally found my life…my love,” will turn grey skies to fireworks and sleepless nights. Just like in the movie, the first glimpsed of Noah Calhoun to the young, beautiful girl named Allie Nelson kept on hunting him all over the years he was away from her. Noah never forgot the memories he had with Allie. His heart still long for her even if years had passed of not seeing her.

As well as Allie who despite her yes to the marriage proposal of Lon the face of Noah still lurks in her mind. B. Young love or the First Love They said young love would easily fade away. Some coined it as infatuation or puppy love. Nevertheless, whatever they called it the word love is still associated with it. Another idea that can be a great argument is, “First love never dies”. True or false? Everybody can say his or her own piece on this. Nevertheless, the common thing you will surely hear is that their first love truly made a change in their life. This is very evident in the movie/novel.

The first encounter of Noah and Allie is nothing surprising but the twist of events held our breaths away. Who would expect that a rich and busy woman would be madly in love to a simple and lowly young fellow? C. Love lost It is painful when we lost someone that we have especially if we are used on seeing or having that someone in our life. The first touch of love is like heaven but if things will go rocky, we tend to questions and feel so awful why we fall in love. Acceptance is the hardest virtue. When we lost love, we become desperate and we cannot accept the fact that the relationship we have has come to and end.

The moment we lost love, a part of us is empty. It seems like we are broken into pieces. Why? Because human beings are made to be loved and be loved. It is our nature to look for love and show it. Just like in the movie, when Noah broke up with Allie the latter shouted in despair since she cannot believed that the person she loved would leave her. The fear of rejection ate her heart. She still wanted to believe that the words they thrown to each other the moment they broke up where just outburst of anger. D. Mature love Mature love is oftentimes developed and nurtured by time.

This cannot be broken by time and unwanted events. This involves responsibility and commitment. Acceptance and understanding strengthens one’s relationship. When we say mature love, it means being attached fully to the person who has your heart notwithstanding the differences you have. "When love is real, it doesn't matter what turns the road takes. When love is real, the joys and possibilities are endless,” Nicholas Sparks said in his interview. This is very evident in his movie/novel The Notebook. The love of Noah never ceased even if Allie did not answer his letters.

He even renovated a 200 years old house hoping that this can bring his Allie back to his life. Indeed, he was able to get her back. Allie disregarded her mother’s advice that she will be better if she will stay with Lon. What is in her mind is that it is only Noah who can make her complete, who can make her laugh with high spirits, and can make her free. IV. Conclusion No matter how far you are with your love one…no matter how long the time passed by…you will really look for that love you have deep inside you. The greatest emotion that one can feel is LOVE. It can change everything and can create a magical touch in your life.

Love will always find a way to go where it belongs to be. It may be hard to know what true love is but our dear hearts can determine and will always long for an everlasting love. We have a freedom to choose. Everything actually lies in our hands. It is up to us where to go. The way to everlasting love is not easy. You have to work for it. As Noah said, “Yes, we are different…we always argue. But I’m willing to work our differences out because I love you. ” With love, you become willing to do even the most impossible things to do. One’s pride will be forgotten if you will fall in love and so are your principles.

You know when it is love if nothing compares the happiness you felt when you with that person. When everything seems so fast and fleeting, yet you have done many things that will forever stay in your heart. When you feel like dancing and seeing just unexpectedly. That’s how you know love. Write your own story in your notebooks and let it everybody read it. Without a doubt, love if full of magic that can make us go see the fireworks in the sky and see the stars in the night. It is enchanted and will always be the best theme that one can write in his/ her notebook.
