It is through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor, that the son of a mineworker can become the head of the mine that the child of a farm worker can become the president of a great nation. (date, page #)” Image that when you have children will you give your children education in their childhood or not. Early childhood education is the key to success in one’s life.
Nowadays more and more people pay a lot attention on children education. The value of early childhood education is becoming a hot topic which refers to preschool education and kindergarten, around 3-6 years old children. Taking early childhood education has significant benefits for the growth of children in the area of children learning skills; in both emotional and social awareness and in shaping children’s personalities. First of all, early childhood education can produce significant giants in children’s learning and development.
Children can learn the reading and writing skills in their early age which can make children have better understanding of their study; easier accept multicultural education. The high scope Perry preschool study (The high scope Perry preschool study) found that the adults who had taken the preschool were easier to graduate from high school than those who did not take the early childhood education. When compared the IQ90, the number of the children at age five who joined the preschool program was almost 2. 5 times more than the number of the children who did not take preschool.
So we can see that, the children who get early childhood education can gain better development in their intelligence and learning ability in their early age, by doing the activities, games, kids crafts and recipes. These benefits also can help children get better expanding in their study and brain development, for example, the meaningful advantage on reading and math skills which would have influence on their adulthood (Frances A Campbell, Craig T Ramey, Elizabeth Pungello, Joseph Sparling, & Shari Miller-Johnson year?).
Secondly, children will gain better social-emotional learning to defend the invading of the unhealthy things, such as the pervasive culture violence. A research from Chicago’s publicly- funded Child- Parent Centers (title? Author? Wikipedia), found that the adults who had taken the early childhood education did fewer crimes. The children who gain the early childhood education will cognize which things adjust to convention and are reasonable, or which things people would better not do, such as violence.
At 18 years old, the children who did not receive the early childhood education program were 70% more likely to be arrested for a violent crime. In low-income families, the parents had no more extra money to send their children to the preschool; their children were five times more likely to become chronic lawbreakers by age 27 than the adults who had taken the preschool program at age 3 to 4. Furthermore, early childhood education can influence children’s personality.
The children who were given the early education could learn how to get along with others; how to respect each other and gain the co-operation ability and conflict reduction skill in their early age. These things could help children form accurate thinking and shape their personality in a good way. Finally, there are many people argue that early childhood education is not equal to every children. Some low in-come family have no money to send their children to the preschool; some parents worry that their children will be get bad habits in the preschool or public school, so they decide to teach their children by themselves.
However, from president Obama’s FY2010 budget proposal (New Study Confirms Value of Early Childhood Education); there are more than $1 billion for new and existing federal programs supporting early childhood education programs. So in USA, there will are more early childhood education program which can give more opportunities to the poverty family children to gain the early childhood education. In addition, there are some people also think that different quality of early childhood education will give children different influence.
Although there are amount of controversy about the equal of early childhood education, this education has an important influence on individual especially to person’s concept and ideas. More or less, early childhood education will affect people’s life, no matter how many it will affect people, and children should take this education in their early age. The changing can be embodied in the children behavior and determination, and it is even an alteration to person’s character. In conclusion, early childhood education has long-term benefits to children.
Children can get advantage from it in their ability of learning; gain better social-emotional learning; know better how to become a meaningful person by shaping their personalities.
