The True Qualities of a Hero

Categories: HeroHeroismMy heroes

A hero is someone who sacrifices for the better welfare of others. “The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively”- Bob Marley. Throughout history many people, both fictional and real exhibit those traits. A hero is someone who risks themselves for someone else. A good example of that is Katniss Everdeen from the “Hunger Games” series. When her sister was called for the hunger games, she volunteered herself as to protect her sister from being forced in.

She very well knew the risks and how she would most likely die but she faced her fear and went in her sisters place. That demonstrates true bravery, proving her to be a hero. A real life example would be a soldier. Soldiers fight on the front lines to protect our freedom everyday! Narrowly dodging death is part of their everyday routine! They are considered both heroic and Courageous.

Parents are one of the best examples for this! They sacrifice all the time for their children. They supply food, shelter, transportation and entertainment for their kids.

They always think about their kids before themselves no matter what. That’s a sign of heroism they show all the time.

So in the end anyone can be a hero as long as you think about others. So as long as you think about others, you too are a hero. Teachers, firemen, book characters, soldiers, parents, they’re all heroes!
