The Scouts Different Personality

Categories: Fiction

In my opinion in the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Scout always is herself, she is a tomboy and is not afraid to show it off. She hangs out with the boys more than they want her to. According to Merriam-Webster, personality is the “quality or state of being a person” it is what makes a character come to life (Merriam-Webster, personality). Unlike most characters in the book, she is not prejudice against African Americans; they never really bothered her unlike older characters.

She is very accepting and friendly she does not care if the person is an African American or not. That is the power of Scouts personality.

To begin in the book To Kill a Mockingbird Scout is Jem’s younger sister. After he broke his elbow Scout helped him get around. On Scout’s first day of school she knew she had annoyed Miss Caroline so she starts leaving her alone she stared out the window until Jem cut her from the covey of first-grade in the schoolyard.

Miss Caroline is using a new teaching habit for her students and that is something Scout did not like. She is not a huge fan of starting school. Scout and Jem get made fun of because there father is black that is one of the bid reasons why Scout is not prejudice against African Americans.

Next, Scout is very energetic, she goes hours running around and playing with the boys. Scout goes along with what everyone is saying even though she does not understand what they are saying.

For example “We felt like it was time you children needed—well it’s like this, Scout,” Atticus said. “Your aunt’s doing me a favor as well as you all. I can’t stay here all day with you, and the summers going to be a hot one.” “Yes sir,” I said, not understanding a word he said. Even though she does not fully understand, she goes along with it.

Finally, my opinion in To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout is always is being herself; she does not really change her personality. She is a tomboy and she always would rather hang out with the guys than anyone else. According to Merriam-Webster, personality is the “quality or state of being a person” it is what makes a character come to life. Most characters are prejudice against African Americans, but she is not. Scout is very accepting and friendly to them no matter what race they are. That is the power of her personality.
