Nowadays energy plays a significant major role in the developed and developing countries, especially in the economic prosperity. As we know, most of the countries moving towards using nuclear energy as an efficient alternative source to meet the needs of growing energy in their city. However, there is a debate about the dangerous and unsafe using of nuclear reactors to provide electricity after the horrific accidents that happened in the cities, such as, Chernobyl, Three Mile Island, and Fukushima. However, the demand for energy is increasing as well as the population increasing rapidly.

Indeed, countries should use nuclear power plants as an alternative source of fossil fuels and natural gasses to meet the needs of electricity and fill the gap of energy shortage crisis. Nuclear power is the best choice to generating energy safely and effectively, and it will solve many problems that related to economic growth and environmental issues. The future of nuclear power will not be the same as now, and the power of nuclear reactors will be the major source of energy production in the future of cities.

In recent years, the world witnessing a big crisis, which is shortage of energy. There are many resources to produce energy, and some of them have a good and bad impact at the same time. One of the most controversial issues in producing electricity regardless of other traditional energy sources (coal and natural gas) is nuclear power plants. Although some people believe that nuclear power plants should not be built because of the serious impact of the harmful radiations, which resulting during the proses of generating nuclear energy, I believe nuclear energy should be built because it’s the best alternative way to fossil fuels to create energy effectively and safely.

We should look at all positive aspects of nuclear power that has a significant impact on our future, which demonstrated since increasing the demand for energy all over the world. Some of the aspects that we need to look at are the good impacts of using nuclear power in the world economically and environmentally. Plus, the solutions to reduce the risks of nuclear technology and make it acceptable as on of the most efficient sources to create energy.

Today, the world is facing the problem of increasingthe number of populationgrowth eerily in the world, which is mean increasing the demand for electricity besides the decrease of the reserve of global energy. Therefore, to save our economy, we have to use nuclear power technology to generate energy as an efficient alternative source to fill the gap in meeting the energy needs of the countries. Indeed, the cost of building nuclear reactors energy is so expensive, it cost at least $6 billion. However, in Nuclear Energy Institute (2016),

The nuclear energy industry plays an important role in job creation and economic growth, providing both near-term and lasting employment and economic benefits. The nearly 100 reactors in the United States generate substantial domestic economic value in electricity sales and revenue —$40 billion to $50 billion each year—with more than 100,000 workers contributing to that production (para 2).

As we can see, the profits and benefits are more than losses in the construction of nuclear reactors considerably. Nuclear energy can be competitive with other sources of the capacity of generating energy safely and efficiently. Next, if we look at the operational costs of nuclear, it will be very low, nuclear energy produces very cheap electricity relatively from burning fossil fuels and other natural gases. For example, Uranium one of the energy sources for nuclear power, so when we compare between burning 12 million barrels of oil or 3 million tons of coal and fissioning 1 metric ton of uranium to provide energy, Uranium will provide the same amount of energy comparing with coal and oil. Thirdly, nuclear power is the most efficient source of the generating energy than renewables energy because it has large power generator capacity, so its can meet countries needs of energy and provide power for heavy manufacturing. In contrast, renewable energy can’t do that because it’s low energy sources and its capacity is limited. For instance, solar and the wind are not available on anytime, and that may impact the economy negatively when it should meet its country needs permanently. In short, nuclear power has a significant impact on our countries that contribute to the economic prosperity by generating energy sustainably. It has high energy density, the nuclear fission reaction released a large amount of energy more than fossil. Therefore, nuclear power can meet all city needs of electricity effectively and safely.

Another thing, we know nuclear energy is a friendly source to the environment and it’s a safe technology. Chernobyl disaster, Three Mile Island accident, and Fukushima Daiichi one of the most horrible incidents that happened because the explosion of nuclear reactors. As a result, after these accidents, the world recognize that nuclear power is fundamentally unsafe on health and environment. On the other hand, we can’t ignore the positive items of using nuclear power as a safer technology on the environment comparing with coal and oil. In fact, Fukushima reactor was very old, and the design of the new nuclear power plants is less likely to collapse. Furthermore, the main cause beyond Fukushima disaster is Tsunami divesting earthquake that occurred in Japan and resulting in explosions some nuclear reactors. Secondly, if we continue burning fossil fuels or coal to produce energy, it would increase the emission of toxic gases in the air during the process of production electricity. According to Jyothi, Mahalingam (2013), nuclear power is environmentally friendly energy, it doesn’t produce solid or chemical pollutants that are released into the water sea or the air during the production of energy. Also, during nuclear energy lifecycle, it releases 66 grams of carbon dioxide only, which is equal per kilowatt hour (gCO2). In contrast, coal plants release 960 grams and gas stations emit 443 grams of carbon dioxide to generate electricity (p 26 27). Another advantage of nuclear power is when we comparing renewables energy with nuclear on the issue of climate change, we know that renewables energy isn’t able yet to take over from nuclear power on producing energy efficiently. As a result, nuclear power is the best greener alternative of natural gases and coal sources, which cause a lot of damage and pollution in our lives and the environment over the long run than nuclear power.Clearly, there is no perfect source of creating energy, but nuclear power comes close by its superiority on renewables energy, coal, and natural gases on generating electricity permanently, efficiently, and safely. Thus, nuclear power is the best friendly source of the environment that helps us to solve many problems that we face considerably.

Experts argue about the nuclear reactors safety and radioactive waste after the three accident that happened in the world such as, Chernobyl and Three Mile Island, which remains maligned on using nuclear energy in the world. After that, people refuse the existence of nuclear power because they recognized how nuclear power plants is extremely dangerous on people’s health and environment. On the contrary, we are not indispensable in the use of nuclear energy, every problem has a solution, so we can address the bad aspects of using nuclear in many ways. One of the effective ways that we can use to reduce the damage on the economic and environmental levels is to store or disposal the waste underground or underwater, where we can avoid the harmful radioactive waste of nuclear power, which is will not harm our environment dramatically. After that, we can remove the radioactive waste that has gone down. Another magnificent solution for this problem is using green rust for disposal of radioactive waste of nuclear energy. According to Teguhwinari (2012), Nuclear waste can actually be overcome by using green rust of reinforced concrete. This is observed by scientists spent many years to prevent the formation of green rust in reinforced concrete because it is considered a problem. However, the results showed that green rust can be useful to cope with nuclear waste. Green rust is mud that containing not yet fully rusted iron (para 8).

As we can see, this is a safe environmentally because the radioactive waste store in iron and copper channel and coated with green rust to ensure that no leakage of waste water outside the surface of the channel when damaged container. Another thing, uranium is no longer a good fuel for nuclear energy, we know that uranium is one of the energy sources of nuclear power, but this energy is a danger resource because the Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, and Fukushima disasters were inherent in using uranium for obtaining electricity. However, thorium the other new fuel of nuclear power plants, which considered as safer and greener alternative to uranium. In “NEW APPROACHES IN NUCLEAR ENERGY: THORIUM AND USE OF ENERGY RESOURCE “author Erol, Kapluhan, some of the advantages of using thorium are the safety side of thorium reactions that it’s not a fissile, and this means the nuclei of thorium can’t sustain a chain reaction on its own. As a result, they can’t split their nuclei apart by their own and explode. It’s easy to controlled thorium chain reaction than uranium by stopping the neutrons source that is provided from this outside source, and then it well shuts down. Additionally, uranium is not abundant in nature like thorium (p 46). Thorium has given more attention as a safer, cheaper, and sustainable fuel for nuclear power plants. In brief, if we think that using nuclear power is something superfluous from existing in our daily life, we are completely wrong. Nuclear power is one of the best solutions that can fill the gap in generating electricity safely and effectively. Thus, nuclear power helps us to solve many problems that related in the shortage of energy, and meet our city needs of energy permanently.

To summarize, people, who think the refraining from nuclear proliferation will save the economy and the environment from the danger impact of nuclear energy are completely wrong. On the contrary, using nuclear energy as a safe alternative source of coal and oil in our daily life is inevitably important for obtaining energy in a sustainable manner. In fact, we can’t deny the effectiveness of the nuclear power technology in our life and economy by the accidents that resulted from the explosion of nuclear reactors. We know there is no source free from defects, so we have to realize that accidents happen, and we are not immune from the natural disasters or human errors and their negligence, which were the main reason of nuclear disasters. Rationally, nuclear energy is our future promising in the prosperity of our country and economy, and it’s the best environmentally friendly source that contributing considerably in solve a lot of problems on a global scale. For example, in global warming issue, the impact of nuclear power is relatively little on increasing the emission of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere than coal and natural gases. Also, nuclear energy is the best choice to resolve the crisis in energy shortage effectively, sustainably, and safely.
