Intelligence is a very crucial aspect, especially in the present day society. Very few traits match its importance because of the following: first, there is a direct correlation between job performance and intelligence. Secondly, intelligence is often linked to various economic advantages including; affluence, employment, leadership abilities and behaviors that are by the law. In this reflective essay, I write a report on my self-assessment using tested methods that have been developed by experts in psychology. Howard Gardner’s basic multiple intelligence tests and Daniel Goleman’s EQ were used for this survey.

Additionally, close people whom I associated with on a daily basis were consulted to give their honest opinion about the same results that I got from the tests. Then I analyzed my findings using the Johari Window model so that I might get the perfect reflection of myself.

Comparative Analysis

A comparative analysis was necessary for self-awareness to be determined. Using data that was obtained from the previously stated surveys, I carried out a comparative analysis to determine the differences regarding the information gathered from the different data sets to determine how self-aware I was.

Regarding my linguistic ability, there was a very slight difference indicating that the test was very accurate on this aspect. Similarly, in determining how logical or mathematical I was in situations, there was a small difference in the results that I obtained from my colleagues and those that I got from the test. This again proves the accuracy of the results that I got from both sources.

Regarding my musicality, there was also a slight difference which meant that indeed I have some form of musicality in me. Regarding body-kinesthical perspective, there was also a small difference which confirmed the accuracy of the results that I obtained from the test. In the spatial-visual viewpoint, there was a huge difference between the results that I had obtained myself and those that were captured by my closest friends and family. This is an indication that there could be some aspects that I don’t understand regarding my spatial-visual perspective that other people perceive better than me.

In the interpersonal standpoint, a slight difference was felt which means that the results are almost the same with what my colleagues think about me. In the intrapersonal perspective, the results were varied regarding opinion. There is a substantially large difference in what my assessors think regarding my intrapersonal skills. My reflection on this results was based on the Johari Window Model. In this reflective essay, I employed the Johari window which is a psychological methodology that was created by Harry Ingham and Joseph Luft. The Johari Window is based on the life skills such as cooperation, empathy and inter-group development. Using the data that was obtained, I identified aspects that were part and parcel of the open space. According to the Johari Window, the first section of the quadrant is the open space. (Self-Awareness, 2017). There are aspects that I am very aware that they are part and parcel of me. These aspects are music and linguistic capabilities. I am very conscious of the fact that am a very musically oriented individual and also an excellent linguist. When it comes to the blind area, I also have some aspects that can fit in this quadrant.

According to the Johari Window, the blind area quadrant simply refers to that part in somebody’s space that he or she is unable to recognize, but the other people surrounding him or her can boldly recognize (Self-Awareness, 2017). In this case, reflecting upon myself about what people think about me, I have come to the realization that people have the perception that is pretty good at spatial-visual( i.e. the ability to come up with sound manipulations of 2,3 and 4 dimensional figures using the mind and can be determined by simple tests based on the intelligence. On the converse, I do know very well that it is not so. Still referring to the Johari Window, the third quadrant that is very crucial in this reflection is the hidden area, that which occupies the third quadrant. This refers to those things that one about themselves but they are not intended to be known by the people. (Self-Awareness, 2017).

Reflecting upon what the results that I had gotten from the data sources had to say, some of the aspects that will fit on this window are on the bodily-kinesthical i.e. the ability to manipulate any objects and make use of physical skills. I am aware of the fact that I can play some sports but I have no intention of letting them to know that. The fourth aspect of intelligence that I can refer to the Johari Window, is the unknown section. Reflecting upon the data that I collected for this reflection, there are aspects that unknown to the people. Such traits are the interpersonal skills.

Strengths and Weaknesses

I identified several weakness and strengths from the above analysis. The first strength is what lies in the open area as per the Johari Window. I am a music oriented passion, and at the same time, I do have a passion for the same. And that is the reason why this ability lies in the open area because am acutely aware of it. If at all I can combine the passion and ability to make something big out of it. From the survey, I also realized my weakness. I have the linear thinking that my spatial-visual (i.e. the ability to come up with sound manipulations of 2,3 and four-dimensional figures using the mind are dangerous. Though it is a concept that has been proven by the test that it does exist, I am very disappointed that most people think otherwise. The reason for the disappointment is the fact that it is an aspect that is very fundamental especially in my life and to make it, even more, worse, the data that was used in the survey pointed to the fact that my spatial-visual skills are pretty high. I strategize to improve in this area owing to the potential ways that it could change my life. I strategize to employ the best research methods to improve on this field. Though experts argue that intelligence comes naturally, some aspects can be nurtured. And that is the strategy that would be very instrumental in improving this aspect of intelligence.

Competencies that Meet Global Needs

There are several competencies that are handy for my personality to meet the global needs. Living in a global world means having global competencies as far as intelligence is considered and in this case the competencies include; recognizing the need to uphold diversity, for instance, if I work in an environment that consists of many cultures drawn from all over the world, it is very handy that I learn to cope with them, how they work, how they reason and all the things that they do so that I fit in the global perspective. Additionally, I will need to be versatile in addition to being a technocrat because I might have to work in an environment whereby my technical skills do not mean that much.
