A role model is someone that a person looks up to. A person that someone aspires to be someday. When thinking about such a person, no one better fits this description that Dr. Price. Who is a professor at YSU and chairman of the chemical engineering department as well. There is much to be observed and learned by him, making him a wonderful candidate for this research interview. Many of his attributes make him the perfect fit for such an assignment.

This man is hard working, intelligent, proactive, and extremely motivated. All of these qualities make both a strong leader, teacher, and person in general. Each and every person could learn much from a guy like this, and I hope to share such experiences from the interview with the rest of the class. Dr. Price is the perfect role model, anyone would be fortunate to follow in his footsteps.

When first asked to do the interview, Dr. Price appeared stressed, which is certainly understandable given his busy schedule.

However, he agreed, and plans were made to conduct it. Dr. Price said, “I'll pencil you in”, which was unfamiliar of slang. Nonetheless, after research, I could understand what he meant. The interview took place in his office on a cold bitter day. However, nonetheless, not much fear concluded. This man makes anyone feel comfortable, he doesn't believe that he is better than anyone, which is highly refreshing. Prior to the date, deep satisfaction and ease filled the air. Everything was going right, ability to complete this project was possible.

Chemical engineering is not an easy major to choose. There is a lot of difficult mathematics and sciences involved with such areas. As explained in the previous assignment, Price has a doctorate in such fields. Making him not only intelligent, but highly motivated. Not only is he well qualified for such positions at YSU, he is also very attentive to the needs of students. Many come to him inquiring about something, and he never turns them down. His out of school research, experiments, and helpfulness, he encompasses the perfect qualities of a role model. All students, even those not taking up science or chemistry fields could learn something from this man. Not to mention that he speaks in such a way that students can understand the topics. This is especially important to international students. By not feeling dumb, students feel this man is very approachable.

Dr. Price devotes much of his free time to discovering emerging information on chemical engineering. Not to mention the work towards this field that he conducts while working and running the department. He stated numerous times that “ of all his jobs, this is the easiest, because I love what I do, therefore, it's not like I'm even working". This reveals that the man is fully devoted to this major, and developing as much information as seemingly possible. This is a rare quality these days, for someone to be so passionate about what they love. The room is filled with his confidence when he speaks about his passions and goals. This man is filled with goals, even though he is older, he still aspires to demote as much energy he can in such topics. This attribute is truly inspiring, being like minded is certainly a goal to have. Not only a personal one, but one that each persons strives for.

Not only is Dr. Price well informed on the newest and latest discoveries in the field of chemical engineering, but also well versed in experiments as well. He is involved in many at the University, and elsewhere as well. Prior to being in his current position, he had other jobs in the field as well. He has undergone around 30 different experiments in his lifetime. As everyone knows experiments are both tedious and time consuming. He demotes much time in both research and physical experiments as well. Dr. Price stated: “It is one thing to read numerous textbooks on chemical engineering, but the true experience comes from undergoing several experiments”. This is quite true, one can read and reread many materials, but experience applies that knowledge first handily. It is just as important to read as it is to facilitate the required knowledge.

He has also published several academic essays on topics related to chemical engineering. Any man, as devote as this man, certainly deserves appreciation and admiration from students, faculty, and peers alike. Although, he does not specifically ask for such things, they should naturally be given. However, Dr. Price stated: “that many efforts go unnoticed or unrecognized in such fields, but that doesn't stop me, because my own passion is enough gratitude". This could not be truer of a statement, many times engineers work diligently, and they are left with no thank you or appreciation. Despite the fact that engineers are responsible for most upgrades and accessibilities in technology and architecture alike. Engineering is a proper major, but one that isn't dependent on recognition for motivation. The motivation and perseverance of Dr. Price is impeccable. Never has anyone come even close to him in such areas. Most people in the same age bracket have lose their light. They have become overworked and tired; however, this is not found in the passion of Dr. Price. Each day is a new day to him. Full of excitement and discoveries. Although, knowing so much already on such topics, he still feels that there is always more to learn. This quality is rare in todays times. Despite his countless efforts and determination, he still finds such curiosity each day. Not to mention, he believes that he can learn from anyone. Whether you have graduated or just begin school, he treats everyone equally. He stated during this interview that : "I am a man of respect, as a young boy, my parents always said respect your elders, and I would always say back to them that we should respect everyone, not only our elders.” This quote is very admirable in nature. He is certainly right, not only those who are older than us deserve respect, but everyone does. However, in the world that we live in, most people do not value such wisdom. Everyone wants respect, but no one earns it.

When asked what his favorite aspect of his job was, Dr. price stated: “It is not easy to give a simple or singular answer to this question, however, since you asked, I will make it simple. My favorite aspect of this job is not the money, the fulfillment of my passion, nor the commitment. My favorite part of this job is the students. Nothing makes me more thrilled to see someone who still has the light inside them, the light that is found in young people. Once you become older, this light dims progressively, time is lost, and some dreams are no longer possible. But when you are young, time is on your side, so make use of it and enjoy it. Do all that you want now, because after a certain age, you cannot do certain things anymore.” This personally applied to me more than he could ever know. Many things are still possible when one is young, whether it be physical in nature or mental. Although, Dr. Price stated this, I feel his light is very much intact, despite the number of years he has lived.

Dr. Price is a role model to many people, and this is certain. Many look to his for guidance and help in many different areas. He has many friends and family who love him with all their heart. Dr. Price is a fine example of what hard work and determination will land you. Most people enter chemical engineering for the money or title, but he entered it for reasons beyond that. Dr. Price is a hero and role model, he is hard working, disciplined, and down to earth.
