The Kind of Person I Want to Be
The Kind of Person I Want to Be
In this day and age the media and popular magazines are telling teenage girls to be the prettiest with the shortest skirts and the cutest boyfriends. But in reality no one really has all these things.
The person I would like to become is a person who has more confidence in herself. From what I have found by doing this project, I do not have much confidence. I will personally say I do not find many good things about myself that others say are good. People say that I have a good life and I look back at them and wonder what is life without a strong realization in who you really are. The person I want to become is a person that can go up to someone and tell them exactly what is on their mind.
I want to look in the mirror and not wonder how I can improve. With all the hype of being the perfect girl it is tough to do this. Unfortunately I have not been able to live up to my expectations…yet. I hope that some day I will be perfectly accepting and stop worrying about what other people think and only care about what I think about myself. I just hope someday I can accept my personality and body and be happy with who I am as me, not who I wish I could be. It is a difficult process but I am coming to a solution and I am excited and yearning to see what life brings me in the future.

I want to be a good person with morals, honor, and integrity. I want to live by the values that my parents taught to me as a child, and the values that I hold to be important.
I would like to live by honesty, respect, compassion, and peacemaking. If you can be honest with yourself and with others you can be happy and I would like to be happy.
I would like to live by respect because I want to be respected as well. If I treat others with the respect that they, and everyone, deserves then I will be respected in return.
I would like to live by compassion because all people deserve compassion and it is natural for a human being to feel compassion for those that they see suffering. I really do enjoy volunteering and helping others less fortunate, I would love to continue doing so in the future.
I would like to live by the virtue of peacemaking because I cannot stand conflict. When I see people fighting I just need to get involved and mediate, I cannot watch people be angry with each other. Peacemaking I a great virtue because the ability to settle arguments will help you deal with people.
It is hard to grow up nowadays. I always heard one of my former teachers say, “I wouldn’t give the world to grow up the way you all have to.” It is important to know who you want to become and what values you want to live by in today’s world.

When I am older I want to be a strong and self-confident person. I want to be someone who is not shy to voice their own opinion. Now I would rather listen to what other people have to say on a subject than tell other people what I think. I usually do not speak often or say what I think when there is an “open” conversation. I will usually sit back and listen to what other people are saying and keep my opinions to myself. When I am older I want the “courage” to say my opinions to people and be more involved in an “open” conversation.
Also, I would like to be more self confident. I would like to be able to walk around not worrying what other people are thinking about me, and not really caring. Most people do not know who I really am. I don’t want to have to worry about being someone who I think they want me to be.
Rebecca Volturo, Notre Dame Academy, Worcester Massachusetts (USA)
I want to become an understanding, compassionate, and caring person. I want people to feel comfortable talking to me when they need to do so, or listening when they need advice. I want to be an honest, wholesome person who has enough courage to stand up for what I believe. I would like to live a life filled with love, faith, and happiness.
Katie Foley, Notre Dame Academy, Worcester, Massachusetts (USA)
I would like to become a happy, confident, well-balanced, and loving person. I want to be able to say that I am proud of my life and all of the things that I have done. I would like to be able to speak for myself without being shy. I want to learn to do a variety of things and to enjoy the learning process as well as the final product. I want to know that I have a strong base group of family and friends as well as a number of acquaintances. I want to be a good person.
