Issues with US Minimum Wage Increase

Minimum wage is by far the most controversial issue in the United States currentlyi The two sides of the debate each have several arguments to support their opinion of how to manage the minimum wage rates on a national scale. While many United States citizens are in support of raising the minimum wage, the United States government and the upper-echelon of the nation’s wealth bracket insist on maintaining current minimum wage levels, First and foremost, a large portion of United States citizens, primarily consisting of lower and middle class individuals, support a national increase in minimum wage levels Struggling United States citizens know that the current minimum wage levels are drastically below an idealistic “living wage,“ or a wage that is capable of supplying the necessities for a contemporary household, Many individuals recognize that they will be incapable of linear growth in terms of wealth; therefore, the American Dream becomes a figment of idealism in the eyes of many Lower and middle class United States citizens argue that current minimum wage levels do not meet the demands of everyday payments.

The necessities of each individual cannot accurately be determined by the United States government; therefore, the current minimum wage rates across the nation cannot be trusted to cover the expenses of every citizen.

Many individuals that argue against raising minimum wage levels fail to realize some United States citizens have needs that extend beyond the reach of current minimum wage rates. These individuals struggle to attain higher paying employment opportunities and are essentially forced to give an increased number of hours to their job, subtracting time normally geared toward enjoyment and the general pursuit of the American Dream In short, current minimum wage rates across the United States are insufficient to support each and every employed individual to a satisfactory extent; therefore, lower and middle class workers strongly insist on increasing minimum wage levels in order to raise the likelihood of individual needs being met with a strong monetary foundation.

In contradiction, the United States government and the upper-echelon of the nation’s wealth bracket are adamantly opposed to a significant increase in minimum wage levels across the United States and instead insist on maintaining current figures, The nation’s government has little to no capability to accurately determine the financial needs of each citizen and therefore only makes estimates based on crude rubrics for survival in contemporary society Furthermore, the large majority of employers and managers are reluctant to provide employees with significant wage increases due to a variety of potentially negative outcomes Many business leaders and top-tier managers are under the intense scrutiny of the working class due to notions such as corporate greed and the gradual disappearance of the nation’s middle class In recent years, the wealth gap has become a gaping hole in the United States financial infrastructure, The top echelons of the nation‘s wealthy individuals hold a momentous sum of money in comparison to the vast majority of United States citizens These same wealthy individuals are seemingly reluctant to raise minimum wage rates in the United States because they would in turn earn less profit per employee.

Lower and middle-class individuals perceive current minimum wage levels to be unsatisfactory in maintaining a normal life in contemporary society and therefore push the government to force employers to raise wages. On the other hand, the upper bracket of the nation’s wealth is reluctant to provide employees with greater wages and therefore the United States government is incapable of finding a viable solution,
