The main duty of the Indian government is to provide status equality and opportunities in India. One of the solutions against social oppression and injustices reservation against certain classes. Affirmative actions which are another name for reservation helps in uplifting backward classes.

However, reservation is the only method for social upliftment. Several other methods like providing scholarships, fund, coaching and other welfares schemes. The way the reservation is implemented in our country is greatly governed by both bank politics. The reservation was only allowed for socially and educationally backward classes by the Indian constitution, but in India, it mainly became caste-based reservation instead of class-based reservation.

Primarily the st and sc community were only provided with the benefit of the reservation- that too over a period of 10 years. However it go extended herself. After the execution of MANDAL commission reports in 1990, the reservation scope was broadened to include other backward community. The advantages of the reservation were greatly enjoyed by very families, excluding the truly deserving one even after 70 years of independence, there was an increasing demand for reservation.

Union social justice and empowerment minister- Thaawarchand Gehlot, stated the similar state laws for EWS quota which were denied by courts as there was no provision for economic reservation in the constitution before. As of now, the law will not be affected by the supreme court if it were to get challenged as it has already been brought by making required provision in the constitution.
