The Government Monitoring the Internet Keeps Us Safe

How do you feel about your privacy? More specifically, your internet privacy. Well, what if I told you you were being watched by the government every day? Would you like that the government is watching, thinking it could stop threats and blackmail online, or do you think that it is violating the 1st Amendment, silencing people’s opinions? Let us see what people think.
The Government Monitoring the Internet Keeps Us Safe
By Frank B. Indiana and Carlos I. Andrews (get it?)
I think the government should continue to monitor the internet.

It could help stop terrorists, blackmail, and other cybercrimes in our country.
The government monitoring the internet could stop terrorists because, as an article by Fordham Political Review (http://fordhampoliticalreview.org/how-isis-recruits-through-social-media/) reveals, ISIS is using the internet to target and brainwash “young, disillusioned Muslims.” Since the government is watching the internet, they should be able to catch these terrorists.
This could also stop blackmail, cyberbullying, death threats, etc. from existing online.

They could catch those who do those kinds of things. Government monitoring helps everyone, so do not listen to those silly people who believe government monitoring is an invasion of privacy. It’s only an invasion of privacy if you have something to hide.

But, what are the effects of this?
One of the effects is that voices are silenced. A study done by Professor Elizabeth Stoycheff at Wayne State University found that people who support government surveillance and have nothing to hide are less likely to share unpopular opinions online. This violates the 1st Amendment, which states “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
The government’s monitoring of the internet does not help anyone. It violates the Constitution and silences people who want to share their opinions. We must take a stand. We demand the government should stop monitoring the internet NOW.
A Response To: “The Government’s Monitoring of the Internet is an Invasion of Privacy”
By Frank B. Indiana
We understand that people do not like the government watching them. But it is for the benefit of the country. But I am not here to talk about how government monitoring will benefit us again. I am here making this article is to point out Anonymous’s flawed argument in “The Government’s Monitoring of the Internet is an Invasion of Privacy.”
The first problem with his argument is that you are only watching if you are a suspected threat. If the government sees that you are not a threat to the U.S. or its people, you will not be watched. If you have done some shady activity on the internet, they will watch you see if you are a threat or not.
The second problem is that the U.S. government is not actually silencing opinions. It’s the people who are scared to share their opinions. The government did not force them to not share their opinions. They did it by their own choice.
Now you see that the argument made in “The Government’s Monitoring of the Internet is an Invasion of Privacy” is flawed. It is just some false truths disguised as fact. Remember that articles like that are lies, and nothing more.

While yes, my argument is flawed, all arguments have one flaw or another. So, I will show the flaw of the argument made by Frank B. Indiana and Carlos I. Andrews in “The Government Monitoring the Internet Keeps Us Safe.”
Here is the problem: there is no proof that the government’s monitoring of the Internet ever succeeded or was ever effective in finding and stopping cybercrime. There just is no proof that monitoring the Internet was ever being effective in stopping cybercrime.
And that is the flaw of Frank B. Indiana and Carlos I. Andrews’s argument in “The Government Monitoring the Internet Keeps Us Safe.” Do not let people like them brainwash you into believing what they believe. Believe the truth, not the lies people like them tell.
