Whenever I got into trouble I would be reminded of what it was that I did wrong so that I would know not to ever do it again and what the repercussions would be if I did. They taught me What was expected of me and other people in order to conform to society's norms of behavior. The expectations that my family put upon me has helped to guide me down the pathway to becoming a better person and to make the best decisions possible. My parents gave me the perfect example of who I wanted to be.

They both have never been afraid of hard Work and have instilled upon me the knowledge that even though We must Work to live. We cannot let that work or the money produced by it become the sole purpose for our life We must learn to find happiness In other things like family. friends. and the world around us. I believe my parents have had the greatest impact upon my ethics and Will continue to throughout my life.

My teachers have also had a very strong influence on my ethics. Teachers have reinforced the same idea of right and wrong that my parents had taught me, l have always thought of my teachers as extremely moral people. I remember listening and learning from them. I always thought of them as a vast source of untainted knowledge and looked up to them. In the classroom they always set a very definite set of rules and guidelines for behaVIor. so I would follow these behaviors and actions in school and also at home because I perceived them to be right. School has also helped teach me how to interact With other people in a variety of situations. good and bad. l have carried many of these teaching with me through life. This is because I believed Whatl learned in the classroom to be truthful My friends were another influence in my ethics. Although I don‘t believe my friends to be a large influence on my beliefs. they did have an influence none-the-less. My friends have always been an important part of my life. Being such an important part I take their opinions and feelings very seriously.

I trust my friends for advice about situation and howl should deal with those situations. This process has helped imprint some of their views upon myself. The culture in which I live has also been a great influence upon my personal ethics. As the ethical views Within the society Which I live has changed and grown. so have mine. Whatever a culture thinks is morally right and Wrong becomes morally right and wrong for the members of that culture. This holds true because everyone in that culture is expected to follow the same principles and have the same ethical values. Since We live in a Democratic society I follow the ethical beliefs chosen by those around me. Our culture is largely based on the Christian religion and our values and morals are very strongly based upon that religion. This is a society that believes you should treat others as you would have them treat you.

That to do harm unto others is wrong, Now that I am older I can determine which ethics are mine and which ethics are those of my culture and I have incorporated those which I believe to be true into my own. The culture in which I was raised was also very family oriented and therefore I am the same. Another influence would be the customs within my culture. | celebrate cenain holidays. and even grieve according to those customs. My culture has been the second greatest influence on my personal ethics. Another influential force that has contributed to my ethical beliefs is my personal philosophies. l have developed these philosophies through my personal experiences and learning's. Certain choices such as whom I should date or whom I should be a friend With have all been based on my personal philosophies. I am not a very religious person. but I am spiritual and this factor has indeed been the deciding factor in a number of personal situations. I follow the philosophy that I mentioned earlier in my paper that you should do onto others as you would have them do onto you.

This has also been a major factor in my decision making. This perspective can be extremely critical when it comes to making business decisions. especially With all the scandals that have been in the news of late. I have learned to balance risks against benefits when making ethical judgments. Overall. my philosophical perspective has guided my actions in various situations. The last influential factor that contributes to my personal ethics is the laws that govern our society. I believe that the law does represent the minimum standard of behavior. My Willing compliance With the law is due to my moral beliefs. Laws set guidelines for behavior but my personal morals overcome the laws in certain circumstances. If I believe that a law is unethical. I do believe that I may choose to disobey that law. If a law does not create the greatest good for the greatest number of people than it should be seen as UHJUSL Personal ethics are a complicated blend of experiences. guidelines and learning‘s from childhood on. The people in my life. my culture. my philosophical beliefs. and the laws that govern us are the blend that has formed mine.
