Have you ever eaten a meal before that consisted mostly of sugar and junk food? How did you feel afterward? I know for myself, whenever I eat a bunch of sugary foods at parties, I feel pretty bad afterward! Compare that feeling to how you feel after completing a workout or eating a healthy meal. You feel energized, amped up, and ready to go, right?
Imagine if you lived your life in a complete fog, drinking coffee throughout the day in order to stay awake and function.
You could barely walk up a flight of stairs without being out of breath. Sadly, this is how many people are living their lives today! Most people never realize that they’re in a daze, or that they could take actionable steps that would make them feel so much better and alive.
The first and most important step of any nutrition plan is to realize that you can change. Regardless of the decisions you’ve made in the past, or how unhealthy you’ve been in the past, you can still change.
You must take responsibly for your health and well-being, starting right now. Nothing is going to fall from the sky and make you change. No one is going to force you to change. It must come from within you.
If your mental image of yourself is that you’re overweight and unhealthy, then what are your chances of succeeding? Probably not that high! You must begin to change the way you view yourself by changing your actions.
And I get it, changing your habits and actions aren’t easy. If it were easy, then everyone would be in great shape. Instead, it’s far easier to sit on the couch, binge watch T.V., and eat junk food.
Once you’ve made up your mind and decided that you will become healthy and fit, no matter what, you must prepare yourself for other people who will unintentionally or intentionally try to sabotage your results.
Think about all of the food companies out there that produce junk food. All they care about is getting you addicted to their salty and sugary junk food so they can profit off you for a long time to come! Do you think they care about your long-term health and longevity? Not a chance!
Your friends and family may get in your way as well. They probably won’t understand your reasoning behind going on a vegan keto diet, and how it can help to improve your health. It can also be easy to give in to social pressure and norms at parties when everyone else is eating as freely as they please.
You must always remember the bigger picture and why you started down this path in the first place. Ultimately, you’re the one who’s in control of your own health. Don’t let anyone else get in the way of that. As long as you remember that, you will stay on the path and achieve your health goals.
The overall point of this book isn’t to simply tell you about the vegan keto diet, but to make you successful with the diet. I want to help you get the lasting results you deserve instead of you fizzling out with the diet after a couple of weeks.
