In this modern world, the level of air pollution is increased dramatically. Air monitoring & quality assurance section established a lead monitoring program to decrease the level of air pollution. There are so many contaminants such as TSP, PM10, PM2.5, NO3, SO2, and NOx (ECA, 2002). In this report, I would like to describe Total Suspended Particulate (TSP) and its instrument set up instructions.
Total Suspended Particulate (TSP) which is found in ambient air and has a mean aerodynamic diameter of up to 25 to 50 micrometers (TSP, 2019).
The aim of this operation is that an electrical blower motor draws ambient air into the air sampler where Total Suspended Particulate matter is collected onto a glass-fiber filter. The air flow through the filter is maintained at a constant volumetric flow rate over a 24-hours (Operations manual, 2008). The flow data and elapsed time are calculated for each sample to determine the concentration of TSP in the ambient air.
Tools, Equipment, and Material: In order to successfully install TSP sampler system for air quality monitoring, you will require the following items (Nevada Bureau of Air Quality Planning hand-out, n.
d.):
Hand tools: Hammer, Screwdrivers, Nut drivers, Hex key wrenches, Wire strippers, Voltmeter, Extension cord and Personal protective equipment and clothing/footwear for work in winter time.
Once the install sampler, the site security is to be maintained with a locked fence.
Only properly trained person should perform the TSP Hi vol. filter changes, installation, testing, operation, maintenance or calibration. As with all monitoring equipment, precautions should be taken when working around electricity, power tools and elevated platforms. Repair should be done by properly trained service person. Proper protective clothing is also essential when working in winter (Alaska monitoring program manual, 2010).

Flow controller: The float controller consists of a meter display which suggests airflow and a screw modify air float through varying the voltage to the blower-motor.
Elapse time: The elapsed time is the indicating tool that appropriately records the time period that electrical power is supplied to the sampler components.
Blower motor: blower-motor a mixture of an electric motor connected to a circular impeller that draws air go with the flow into the sampler inlet, accumulating any suspended particulate be counted onto the glass-fibre clear out inside the filter cassette (TSP air quality manual, n.d.).
If you follow these steps, you will definitely calculate concentration of Total Suspended Particulates (TSP) with flow rate 40cfm. Also, one can determine the identity of the particulate. If you have any questions or problems, please visit and read the air quality operational manual for more information.
