Storing information in a social care setting

All information is to be kept up to date and accurate and stored securely in a locked cupboard or computer with passwords so only certified people can access it. Information is only to be used for a specific purposed concerning to the individual. This is to protect the individuals humans rights to privacy and confidentiality.

You can gather information and advice about handling information from senior members of staff or supervisors who have the experience and knowledge to help you and you also have your companies policies and procedures guidelines to follow. A social care worker would put their concerns in writing and be clear about dates and times, and what steps you took and any responses you have had. You would first talk to your senior or manager. If it is not dealt with then you would go to the next person in charge. You may also need to involve the trade union or a professional organisation in order to support you.
