Shocked Scared and Sicken - Short Story

Shocked, scared and sicken, I stared in terror for a brief moment across the street as fire engulfed the house from all sides like a feral fire-breathing dragon devouring its prey, crawling out from every opening it could find. The outline of the house was ablaze with anger and intensity, and glared at me with its bright, fiery, orange eyes. Nothing inside was likely to survive the untamed beast. Two firemen had sealed off area. Residents nearby came out of their homes and either kept taking pictures or pointing at the house.

Finally, I came to terms with the inevitable truth - my mother's house was on fire. Several ambulances had arrived. My heartbeat was accelerating with fear and tears were rolling down my cheeks as I saw my parents and my little sister taken away by the ambulance. I ran to the ambulance past two of the firemen, only to be stopped by a patronising man in a fireman's uniform, "Little boy, you should know not to wander into a burning building.

" he said curtly. Tears were streaming down my face, "My family is in there!" I could hold the heartbreak no longer and fell to the floor in a disheveled heap as my grief poured out in a flood of uncontrollable tears.and pointed. As I struggled passed the fireman, a white-haired man in a dark suit walked towards me, claiming to be my uncle. I knew he was not. As I began to tell the fireman so, the man grabbed me and told me coolly, "Let's go to my house to cool things down a bit shall we?" smiling.

That smile. That cold smile. It shivered through me as if it were malevolent predator biding its time to seize its prey. Whilst everyone's attention was on my mother's blazing house, the man grabbed me with a steel grip I cried and struggled as I was dragged into an alleyway where I was silenced by a Glock to my temple. Tears streamed down my face. The last thing I saw was the man whacking the Glock with full force into my nose. For a moment I felt dizzy and blurry. Then everything went dark.

I awoke bleeding in a dark room. No window. No door. Just a barred hatch on the ceiling, 15ft above the ground. I figured that I had been knocked out and brought to a warehouse. The stench inside was offensive. Suddenly, a dark skinned man, no more than 30, opened the hatch and let down a rope ladder. He whipped out a revolver and nastily and told me to get up and climb. When I got out of the reeking rathole he told me to walk, prompting me with the front of his revolver in my back. We walked for a few minutes until reaching a dining hall. The inner of the hall had a ovular table with neatly laid cutlery. Through the window beside me I saw the full moon hiding behind the slate colored, towering clouds. Eventually, my eyes rolled to the edge of the ovular table where a blonde haired man with warm blue eyes sat in a grey suit, staring at me. Somehow I felt as though there was more to the man that met the eye. His lips curved in malicious pleasure and the corners of his mouth turned up with his upper lip curled with mirth like a scimitar. He smiled coldly, colder than the smile of the white haired man, colder than anything I had ever felt, "Pleased to make your acquaintance once again, Alec Hoodman."
