Roosevelt’s Rescue of the Environment

A leader can make many remarkable changes throughout history. One of leaders was President Theodore Roosevelt who had contributed great ideas into his presidency. Some of his ideas was to regulate railroads; he had created a “square deal” which stopped the strike that dealt with the miners, and the government; he had inspected food companies because of peoples’ concerns and rumors of how the food was being made; he had supported civil rights; and he also had conservation ideas. Theodore had admired the nature, and the landmarks that the world had to offer to everyone.

He was passionate of saving living things and ensuring that the world kept its natural beauty. Roosevelt did not only try to save the environment; he also managed to save businesses’. He became president in September 1901. During this time-frame, there was a myriad of people coming to the United States so that they can work. The United States was overwhelmed because it had started to become an Urban and an Industrial place.

Theodore Roosevelt saw the issues, and he realized that he had to do something about it. He wanted to guarantee social justice and economic opportunities throughout the government. He didn’t want to abolish a big business because it was a natural part of a thriving economy. Theodore Roosevelt believed that the government has the right to regulate a big business so that it can be healthy for the society. This idea did not eventually work because it was not steadily tested.

The Congress and Theodore Roosevelt had ideas to make Theodore’s beliefs become into a reality. After Theodore helped businesses’; he wanted to start saving environments. As a young child, Theodore had quickly liked and accepted the outdoors as his passion. He has a variety of specimens and animals as his collection. Some of his collections are displayed to this day in the Smithsonian. Theodore Roosevelt has one of the most powerful voices in American Conservation. He has set Federal lands apart from national parks and it is a mellifluous thing to do. He is saving land that could have been used for his troops or someone's battlefield and he’s using that space for natural life to burgeon. In 1901, Theodore had established 5 national parks, 51 bird reserves, 150 national forests, four national game preserves, and 18 national monuments that is over 230 million acres of public land.

The first ranch that Theodore invested was called the Maltese Cross Ranch. Next to the Maltese Cross Ranch is the Maltese Cross Cabin that Theodore made people build. This cabin still exists and people can visit this area if they enter the park. The second ranch that Theodore had established was called the Elkhorn Ranch. This ranch was his second one in North Dakota. There is six national park sites that are dedicated to Theodore Roosevelt. People have put up these park sites because Theodore is a venerable man and his legacy has taught people to take care of nature’s beauty. His words and actions has impacted people and made them see the world in a new perspective.

Theodore Roosevelt is remembered as a nature enthusiast and has also made people appreciate what the world has to offer them. In 1906, he officially signed the National Monuments Act. This Act was to give authority to the president with the power of executive order or proclamation, to restrict specific public lands that the federal government owned. This public land was mostly used to preservation of either historic, prehistoric, or scientific interest. Theodore Roosevelt wanted to stop the federal government from abusing the right to own any beautiful land and use it to just attract people. Theodore knew that nature was put on this earth so we can acknowledge it and not for it to be owned by someone who is not going to take care of it nor see its beauty. This Act has helped Theodore protect the site of the Grand Canyon and he also protected numerous amount of wildlife sanctuaries, federal game reserves, and national forests.
