Are you dreading being quarantined in your house for 14 days? No contact with friends, limited food options, practically almost nothing to do — it can be quite daunting. However, with just a few simple tricks, Take a break from the polluted indoor air and spend some time on the rooftop; the fresh air will strengthen your immune system and leave you feeling more energetic, while the exposure to sunlight ensures that you get some much-needed Vitamin D. Stay active, but remember, now is not the time to start a new strenuous exercise routine.
Instead, do moderate exercise which you enjoy: domestic chores, playing with your pet, or even dancing in front of a mirror! It may be tempting to stay up late at night, but always try to get sufficient sleep. It will help your body rejuvenate and be able to defend itself, which is imperative for fighting off COVID-19.
It is also essential to have a nutritious diet and stay hydrated.
Eat plenty of colorful fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins and antioxidants, and avoid heavily processed food. Find a way to pamper yourself, such as by applying a face mask or taking a relaxing bath (I find that adding a few drops of essential oil to the water does the trick!). Listen to some soothing music, curl up with a good book, or write in a journal to let all of your thoughts flow. You can even try doing some yoga and meditation, which calms the nervous system and quiets the mind from the continuous chatter.
When was the last time you spent quality time with your family?
Whenever you’re bored, see if you can beat your siblings in board games, go through old albums with your parents, or watch soap operas with your grandparents. Being stuck inside the house means that one does not get to enjoy fast food. What better way to fix that than by making it yourself? Whip up some delicious cookies, impress your family with a homemade pizza, the possibilities are endless! Use your free time to get creative. Make a scrapbook, write poetry, or play an instrument of your choice. Now is also a good time to learn a new craft, such as knitting or painting. Don’t spend the entire day scrolling through your phone or watching shows just because you have leisure time.
Take your online classes and study packs just as seriously as regular schoolwork. Make sure to reserve some time every day solely for studying. Before working, get rid of all distractions to stay more focused and set deadlines for yourself so that you are motivated to finish tasks. You may also find it helpful to make to-do lists and study schedules to keep track of assignments.
