His mother was named Gertrude (ni?? e Perveler). His father, named Jacques Leonard Kubrick, whose parents were Jewish Europeans, was a doctor. Write about the background of the photographer. Think about the following:  where did they live?  what was happening in the country they lived in at the time ?  what was happening in the world at the time ? At Stanley’s birth in 1928, the Kubricks lived in an apartment at 2160 Clinton Avenue in The Bronx, New York city’s northern-most borough.

Jacques, his father, taught Stanley how to play chess was 12, and he was obsessed with the game the rest of his life. Actor George C. Scott, whom Kubrick worked with on Dr. Strangelove, was a notoriously great chess player, but would routinely be beaten by Kubrick in the game. In 1962, Kubrick moved to England to film Lolita, and resided there for the rest of his life, filming all of his subsequent movies in Great Britain.

He made 12 feature films in 45 years (1955-1999), with a 12-year absence from film between Full Metal Jacket (1987) and Eyes Wide Shut (1999) being his longest gap between making films.

Critical success

Almost all of his movies were released with critical success and moderate box-office returns, but they were also closely monitored and restricted by Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), and was forced to take elements out of his movies. Now write a carefully constructed paragraph on the photographer and his/her background. Stanley Kubrick was born on July 26, 1928 at the Lying-In Hospital in Manhattan. Image Interpretation

Each movie is divided into segments. In Dr Strangelove, there are three different segments.

These revolve around the characters that Peter Sellers performs: Captain Lionel Mandrake, President Merkin Muffley and Dr.Strangelove. In A Clockwork Orange, the film is also divided into three segments, which follow the main character, Alex DeLarge, as he goes from criminal, rehabilitation guinea pig, and finally a decriminalised man. In The Shining, the film is divided into, yet again, three parts: the normal ‘Jack Torrance’, the ‘Jack Torrance’ that is losing his mind, and the ‘Jack Torrance’ that has lost his mind.

In Full Metal Jacket, the film is also divided into three segments, which seems to be a running theme in Stanley Kubrick’s films.

The first segment is at the Army training boot camp, the second segment is the stationing of the troops in Vietnam, and the third segment is the quest to find and kill a sniper who is killing of the soldiers one at a time. Each film also has its own style. Dr. Strangelove is a comedy satire of the Cold War, A Clockwork Orange is a trip into the dark side of human nature in a Dystopian Britain, The Shining is a suspense-horror movie while follows a man losing his sanity, and Full Metal Jacket follows a soldier as he goes from training to combat in the Vietnam War.
