The predominant concept of supernatural creatures like dwarfs and fairies can be trace deeply rooted in the Filipinos (Roxas & Arevalo, n. d.).Hence there are still many parts of the country that still believing in the stories of creatures of the night that will eat fetuses or play trick travelers in the forest.

'To think that it is popular due to it is rooted in our culture. It was came from the stories that our elders tells to us, that pass through the generations up until now' said by Mervin Malonzo (n. d.)

In the year 1972 local supernatural creatures are not allowed to be illustrate in comics for a time. It was the Martial Law time, a released guidelines that needed to be followed by all the publishing company. The guideline includes the rule for toning down illustration of 'horrifying creatures' and also occultism, astrology, palm reading and other system of belief (Montenegro, 2015).

The main platform for the supernatural creatures is the comics (Roxas & Arevalo, n. d.) but due to the rule under the Martial Law, the production of comics that features a non-human creatures as the agent of death has been ban, but the opposite has happened, it gains more popularity by giving them the appeal that it was forbidden (Roxas & Arevalo, n. d.).

The diaspora of the local supernatural creatures has been accumulating more attention worldwide and that is one of the main objective of creating it, to brand them as part of the Philippine culture (Tan, Malonzo, & Chikiamo).

Spiritualism

Spirituality is a broad concept of many perspectives. In general, it is the sense that we are connected to something far more bigly than ourselves. It typically involve the questioning in life as well as the meaning of it in a universal human experience (University of Minnesota, 2016). Some may think that being spiritual are connected to be religious, but does not.

According to pew research center (n. d) millennials are less attached to organized religions than to their parents or grandparents. Only 40 percent of the people in the same age says that religion is important in life. In the same research, 80 percent of millennials also says that they believe in God (McMullan, 2019).

Millennials are less religious but tend to embrace the spirituality or that there is one above all. To think that it was all because to the political entanglement of most religions, especially Christianity that is according to theslate.com, there has been a steep-drop off since the early 2000s, it can be attribute due to the political scandals that the catholic church and to the rise of the LGBTQIA+ community (McMullen. 2019).

But it doesn't mean that millennials didn't believe in God. There are a lot of not religiously unaffiliated millennials who still reported to be promoting God's teaching, praying regularly and many of these call themselves 'spiritual but not religious' (McMullen, 2019).

According to Christopher Kovats-Bernat (n. d) that the major shift from being religious to spiritual feeling has been caused from the democratizing effect of social media. It is due to public expression and free dialogue that exist in this generation rather existed in Gen-Y (McMullen, 2019).

Kovats-Bernat says that he believes that the millennials' ability to question the authority figures on social media is creating a less tolerant environment for hierarchy system such as organized religions.

Journalism professor Kyle Heirn believed that there is a correlation between social media's power abilities and the weakening of trust on higher institutions in our society. In the end millennial are more likely to be liberated in the way they think on the irrational things and beliefs, they tend to be more reasonable for their selves and less relying on the social norms that our society tells.

Millennial Skepticism

Millennials are not the trusting type (Cilliza, 2019). According to a statistic made by Harvard University's Institute of Politics, majority of the millennials are more confident in making a decision based on themselves, it is from the most written and talked about generation (Logie, 2019). But right now many of millennial cohorts have entered into a strange unscientific and irrational milieu (Colagrossi, 2019). It is far from what there are well known for being skeptic in irrational things. Astrology as a system of belief is finding a growing audience among millennials, as always been alluring to youth culture since 1960s and onwards (Colagrossi, 2019).

In concept of believing in religions, according to pew research center (n. d.) millennials opinion towards religions are markedly to be negative in the past five years (Stanton, 2016). Statistically, it is just 55 percent of the millennials who believe in churches and other religious institutions. In the past years there are a lot more scandals that coming up that is connected to some religious institutions (Stanton, 2016).

A statistics from pew research center (n. d.) says that millennials have become more skeptical on the news they read or watch due to the emergence of the news that coming easily to us, in which the 'facts' go unchecked and there is no credible source in it (Stanton, 2016).

Witchcraft

The predominant idea of witchcraft roots to the Old Testament, referring to those who attain magical powers through worshiping the devil, it commonly practice in private due to it is considered as evil. Witchcraft is system of sorcery or magical manipulation for aggrandizement and to harm others for benefiting themselves or for their client (Unknown, n. d).

Millennials have embraced the of astrology and supernatural due to the trend of getting lucky in horoscopes and according to Bugbee (n. d) Editor in chief of the Cut that the horoscope content has increased up to 150 percent as from 2016 to 2017 (Malamut, 2018).

The concept of witchcraft gain more attention due to the pop culture references like Harry Potter and Salem the Witch and also to the more practice of Eastern meditation like Yoga (Malamut, 2018).

The witchcraft also considered as trend, according to Lucie Greene. Millennials tend to be always seeking for new aged of trend, it is geared towards millennials and Gen X quotient.

Social media has a great factor in the dissemination of the concept of witchcraft in millennials. Social Media brings the practices of it in the light and cause more attention to the others that later on gain more followers (Dangerfield, 2019).

Influencer in Social Media gives credit in spreading the idea of witchcraft in the everyday life of millennials (Dangerfield, 2019). There are more than 2 million post on the app like Instagram and twitter with the hashtag of #witchofinstagram. Nevertheless it is not only the millennials who embrace the concept of witchcraft or sorcery, even the fashion industry embracing the technology of spreading the sorcery concept through the black and white getup that suitable for those who have a pale white skin tone (Vila, 2019). Witchcraft also gained popularity due to the profit it gives and the popularity of merchandised that is referred to the witchcraft culture that has been produced every year.

The generation who has been influenced by the sorcery concept gives them another option to build a magical wall away from the society which is claimed to be rational, but where the reason has never derailed so bluntly (Dangerfield, 2019).

The iconic role of Emma Watson being Hermione played a considerable role in favor of giving the witch concept a feminine look, although Charmed and Buffy which took a part in giving the witches a new image (Dangerfield, 2019). However, we can see that this phenomenon that giving the witches an image a young, pretty women and being a white as thoughtful by the pop culture could recuperate by a giving a figure on a certain scale. We see witches nowadays as a trend and a fashion style, but still the femininity of it still intact from where it came from.
