Election is an organized event that allows people to choose their leader. In an election there are political parties that want to rule the country. There is a leader for each party that represents them. The people who represent the parties are the candidates. In Order for the people to choose their leader , they have to vote for their favourite candidate.

In new zealand voters get two votes. The first vote is the party vote. This decides how many seats that party gets in the parliament. The MMP rules states that if a party wins 1 electorate or 5% of the votes , it gets seats in the parliament.
