'Organizational behavior refers to the way individuals and groups interact within and toward an organization. The combined behaviors create a company climate that can bolster or undermine an organization's success.' (Johnson, n.d.) Most companies will always have individuals on both sides of that fence. The companies that benefit the most are the ones that figure out how to close the gap between what the problem is and what the resolution is. Within that group of people that are found to be useful in closing that problem gap are the ones with the workplace attitude.

Now the key to making sure that the effect is not used in an ineffective manner is to keep the supervision in a positive light. By complimenting, in an affirmative fashion, the end result will for all those employees being monitored will nothing but constructive.

Critical thinking is at the top of my list. Why you ask, well a lot of people take commands without asking why.

Why, is the difference between doing a decent job, and taking that job, and making it a great experience and as well as a life changing decision that will have a positive outcome. With critical thinking also comes problem-solving.

Problem-solving works hand in hand with critical thinking. Problem-solving is a key component on closing that gap I spoke about earlier. “A problem is a difference or gap between an actual and a desired situation.” While critical thinking and problem-solving are internal methods that allow you to impact OB (organizational behavior) in a positive light, active listening gives you the opportunity to involve others the ability to participate in making the work area a good experience.

Active listening works great when you allow yourself to concentrate on what is being told, understand as well as remember what was said. Everybody needs somebody to speak to when there is conflict. By actively listening, not only you help in the resolution of that conflict, it also gives that person the chance to do good for themselves as well as the company.

Actively listening can also persuade somebodies attitude. Hopefully that persuasion coaxes them toward a workplace attitude versus a personal attitude.

With somebody having a workplace attitude, it’s outcome is more organizational behavior than personal. With somebody having the workplace attitude, the organization benefits. That is because if somebody is having a positive workplace attitude, they would be willing to contribute more to their place of employment.

Taking initiative at work is a great way to help you gain momentum and success with your career development. Always demonstrating responsibility and enthusiasm, and going the extra mile. Seek out more challenging work, and do tasks without being asked to by someone else.

When we are truly effective at work, we manage interruptions, we take initiative, we build relationships, and we identify our values, priorities, and blind spots. Effective employees are often the most respected and the most productive in their workplaces, and they’re often the first to be considered for a promotion. Remember to devote time towards further learning, career development, and especially increasing your own self-awareness skills.

Unethical behavior in the has no place in the workplace. If it gets into the upper echelon of a corporation, company, small or large, it will trickle on down because people lower on the totem pole will see that behavior and if it is good for the top then then it is good for them. It will be practiced but not openly where it is obvious. The sad and true fact of the matter is, that there will be good people that will practice ethical and moral behavior but may also get swept up in that practice. The only way for the unethical practice to be stopped is if somebody, who is ethically and morally sound, works their way up the ranks to where they are above the highest seat and begins to weed out the unethical people and reseat the compass where it should be.
