Women’s history includes the study of the growth of women’s rights, personal achievements over a period of time, development of individual and groups of women of historical significance and the effect of the historical events have on women.

The women’s movement with equal rights, newly formed organizations for women, rise of new generation of female artists, professionals and photographers transformed the traditional social structure across the globe. The end of the nineteenth century saw tremendous growth in the suffrage movement in the England and United States.

On this time women struggled to attain political equality. The twentieth century witnessed changes in every aspect of day to day lives of women from the domestic position to the public. In the middle of the twentieth century, women’s activities had been recognized as a scientific and cultural landscape of several countries, marking a change in the social and domestic roles of women.

During the twentieth century women gained equal rights with men in voting.

Occupations were demanded for women, they were allowed to be solicitors, barristers, vets, chartered accountants. Most married women did not work outside the home, later it was common to do so least part time. Married women did not have enough time to work during the 20th century. In 1963 in USA an Equal Pay Act compelled employers to pay men and women the same amount for their job.

21st century is a century to get advanced development in woman rights. Women are paying attention to their individual voice.

In this new age love and compassion will rule the world and the woman with natural attributes will sow the seeds for global transformation. Women do not need to look upon historical injustice, women today bee dot look for a perfect role model because they tend to be a perfect role model.

Some of the achievements made of women marked a wave of transformation globally. In the twentieth century, Marie Curie was the first woman to win the Nobel Prize in 1903. In 1910, the first police woman begins duty in Los Angeles. In 1951, Bettle Nesmith Gragam invents liquid paper. Miriyam Moscoso became the first woman President of Danama in 1999.

Feminism is relevant in the 21st century. In current situation women have equal rights to men to vote they are independent in the society and they have lace in politics and government.

Some of the evident achievers of the 21st century are Malala Yousafzai, being a child and woman rights activist. She had stood up for women and children rights and education in 2008. Ellen D’Generes a comedian, television host, actress, writer and producer, even a lesbian she succeeded in society. Beyonce, a famous pop singer, actress and song writer, she started her solo career as a singer in 2003. Michelle Obama, a lawyer, writer, and former First Lady of the United States from 2009 to 2017. She paid attention to poverty awareness, physical activities, and healthy eating. J.K. Rowling, a British writer known for the Harry Potter series, and won numerous awards.

Women are not born but made. Women are naturally pushed into the domestic household but today women in our country have seen it all. This world has seen an increased percentage of literacy among women, today women are entering into professional fields. Even today marriage being the ultimate destiny has not changed in the family. If one looks on the status of women, one has to look at two sides of the coin; one side shows promising and the other side shows black. Even today the basic education is not devoted for the women in far countries. Eventually innumerable debates are continuing in India such as women’s position in society, health, their education, economic position, gender equality. The whole world celebrating International Women’s Day with great show, it would analyse the position and space women occupy today, which is comparing it to the time 60 years ago when the country had just gained independence. When the Indian Constitution is formulated, it granted equal rights to women, referred as second citizens of the country and the women has their freedom and opportunity.

Gender inequality is one of the most serious and sensible issues in World today. India is one of the ancient civilizations to treat women with respect. The fight for childcare, the fight for democratic right to have abortions, the fight against sexism, the fight for the women to work on the eligible employment are the urgent issues faced by the women today. Considering, the present situation, it is necessary to look at women’s position through the stages of the society. Many legendary women have specialised the role of women in societal development, it is inevitable to acknowledge and appreciate them. Tracing through the history, many women have proved the real strength through their extraordinary establishments. Mother Teresa, who dedicated herself for humanitarian deeds, she spent nearly 30 years of her life helping others, she looked after those who had nobody to look after them. She worked towards her goal until her death. One of the most selfless people that has ever lived and her efforts were recognised in 1979 by winning the Nobel Peace Prize.

Women are survivors, not victims, the face cannot give an identity but their dreams can achieve their goals, and the survivors are living in the dreams to achieve the goal. In order to this Lakshmi Agarwal, a survivor of acid attack is an inspiration for how a woman should fight for her dreams. Lakshmi freshly started her new life with a new outlook, she raised her voice against the random selling of acids which is the major reason for the acid attacks. In 2014, she received the prestigious Woman of Courage Award, which was presented by the former First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama. Yet she is the most beautiful woman not for her face but her courage to get from the incidents and has a hope in her present.
