My Career Path: Doctor of Pharmacy
I want to help people. This statement may sound overused but it has always been true for me. Do you ever get a strong sense of satisfaction whenever you help people? I always feel good whenever I am able to help a person in need. I am very glad that this is the profession that I have chosen since it has to deal with helping people while I earn a living. I have to admit, hearing a “thank you” is always nice even as you are just doing your job. I have always held a special interest in the field of medicine but being a little squeamish and all, I have decided that being a pharmacist is perfect for me.
Personally, I want to have a stable life-long career. On the onset, I believe that learning is a continuous process which is why I want to get a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. In the end, even as I am able to get a Doctoral degree, I will strive to gain more knowledge that could aid in my service to the public. My initial goal is to get a high degree that would pave the way for my successful career. Consequently, it will also allow me to maintain a stable job which will also provide with a stable income.
This is important so that I can support my family. While my social responsibility is important, it is also imperative that I provide for my family. In the long run, I will be able to help people by providing them with good health care. My personal characteristics would also allow me to finish a doctoral degree with much ease. School never became a problem for me. I was able to finish my pre-pharmacy course smoothly. I was determined to achieve high marks in school that strongly came as an advantage in the future.
My professors could attest to the fact that I was never absent in my classes. As much as possible, I did not want to miss a lecture so I would not have to deal with the trouble of catching up on the things that I have missed. I wanted to be confident with my knowledge and the preparations needed for my acceptance in the Doctor of Pharmacy. In this light, I was rewarded for my hard work and dedication as I have been consistent in receiving GPA’s ranging from 3. 0 to 4. 0. I beg to disagree with people who consider me to be the perfect student.
In reality, I am just like an ordinary individual who also has a life outside the career. Interacting with different kinds of people was never a problem for me, neither did I lack the confidence that most people my age suffered from. Behind the facade, I was someone who could converse with individuals easily. I guess this would come as an advantage since effective communication skills is always expected of allied Health professionals. I also keep everything in order through careful planning.
I keep a basic routine and I adjust it according to the tasks that I need to accomplish. This allows me to finish all my tasks effectively and in an accelerated fashion. This is the secret that led to my successful education. Regardless of my excellent standing in school, I also took the time to broaden by horizons by becoming a member of the Pre-Pharmacy club at Hendrix. Even as I was equipped with the necessary knowledge I needed in the professional field, I have to admit that there are times when I need to seek the advice of my colleagues.
I am open to accepting my flaws in order to improve myself. It is also better than doing it wrong especially since my profession deals with human lives. One wrong decision could mean the difference between life and death. I can also say that I am determined to get my doctoral degree. But of course, just being determined is not enough. I must also strategically plan my moves since just relying on determination can lead to my own downfall.
