Sidney Kingsley was an American playwright best known for his plays about social issues. He was born in New York City in 1906, and his family was of Jewish descent. Kingsley attended the City College of New York, where he studied English and drama. After college, he worked as a journalist and also wrote plays. His first play, Men in White, was produced on Broadway in 1933. The play was a success, and it won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Kingsley continued to write plays about social issues, and he also wrote screenplays and novels. He died in 1995.
