Rick Bragg is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author from Alabama. He is best known for his work as a staff writer for The New York Times and his bestselling memoirs, All Over but the Shoutin’ and Ava’s Man.nBragg was born in Piedmont, Alabama, in 1959, and grew up in a family of sharecroppers. He dropped out of high school in his junior year, but later earned his GED and went on to attend the University of Alabama, where he studied journalism. After graduation, he worked as a reporter for several small newspapers in Alabama before joining The New York Times in 1993.nBragg won the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Writing in 1996 for his stories about the American South. He left the Times in 2001 and has since published several books, including the bestsellers All Over but the Shoutin’ and Ava’s Man.nBragg currently teaches writing at the University of Alabama and is a contributing editor to Southern Living magazine.
