Ole Edvart Rølvaag was a Norwegian-American author. He was born in Norway in 1876, and emigrated to the United States in 1893. He is best known for his novels about the Norwegian-American experience, including Giants in the Earth (1927) and Peder Victorious (1929). Rølvaag was also a professor of Norwegian language and literature at St. Olaf College in Minnesota. He died in 1931.
