In “Northanger Abbey,” seventeen-year-old Catherine Morland is invited to Bath to stay with her wealthy relatives, Mr. and Mrs. Allen. While there, she meets the Tilneys, a wealthy and attractive family. Catherine is immediately attracted to the eldest son, Henry, and he seems to return her interest.

However, Catherine’s view of the Tilneys is soon complicated by her discovery of a mysterious locked door in their home, which she is convinced is hiding a dark secret. When she finally learns the truth about the door, she is forced to confront her own fears and prejudices, and to decide whether or not she can trust Henry Tilney.
