Lockwood is the narrator of Wuthering Heights. He is a gentleman from the south of England who comes to live at Thrushcross Grange, near the village of Wuthering Heights. He is a quiet, introspective man who seems out of place in the wild, moors of Yorkshire. He becomes interested in the history of the Earnshaw family and begins to visit Wuthering Heights, where he meets Heathcliff. Lockwood is a foil to Heathcliff – he is everything that Heathcliff is not – civilized, well-mannered, and gentle.
