Jared Diamond is an American author and evolutionary biologist who is best known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning book Guns, Germs, and Steel. In it, Diamond argues that the differences in wealth and power between societies can be explained by their different geographical locations and histories.
Diamond was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1937. He attended Harvard University, where he studied biology and anthropology. After graduation, he worked as a field biologist in New Guinea, where he studied the birds of paradise. He later returned to Harvard to earn his Ph.D. in zoology.
Diamond has written several books on human history and evolution, including The Third Chimpanzee and Collapse. He currently teaches at UCLA.
Jared Diamond’s work is important because it offers a new perspective on how societies can develop and change over time. His work provides a model for understanding how different cultures interact and how they can influence each other.
