Erich Segal was a renowned American author, screenwriter, and educator. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, on June 16, 1937, and died on January 17, 2010, at the age of 72. Segal was best known for his novel Love Story, which was published in 1970 and became a worldwide bestseller. The novel was adapted into a popular film starring Ali MacGraw and Ryan O’Neal. Segal also wrote the screenplay for the film.nSegal was a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School. He taught English at Yale University and at Princeton University. In addition to Love Story, Segal wrote several other novels, including The Class (1985), Oliver’s Story (1977), and Man, Woman, and Child (1983).
