Edward Rochester is a wealthy man who owns a large estate called Thornfield Hall. He is a bit of a mystery, as he is often away on business and is not seen much by the other characters in the novel. He is a dark and brooding figure, and seems to have a bit of a temper. He is also very handsome, and Jane Eyre is immediately attracted to him.
