Dorian Gray is the protagonist of the novel “The Picture of Dorian Gray” by Oscar Wilde. He is a young, handsome man who becomes obsessed with his own beauty and youth. He makes a deal with a devilish portrait painter, Basil Hallward, that his soul will be transferred to the painting, and he will remain young and beautiful forever. As the years go by, Dorian’s soul becomes corrupted by his selfishness and hedonism, and the portrait reflects this, becoming increasingly ugly. Dorian remains young, but his conscience torments him and he eventually kills himself.
