Navigating the Crossroads: Choosing Education, Path, and Future

Stressed by the simple reason that I could not figure out what to do after graduating from high school. I was at that point of my life that did not know what to do next. It was one of the hardest decisions for me; I had to choose between two paths just as in, "The Road Not Taken", by Robert Frost. One of them was to study in my home country and the other was to study abroad and open doors to new opportunities.

Everyone in my family was worried about me, because they knew I was going through a hard time. A simple decision became my biggest fear, so I started to compare the options in order to be able to choose the best. Studying in my country is not as expensive as studying abroad, but there is better education abroad than in my country. All of my thinking lead to nowhere, my decision was still blurry and I was almost giving up.

I could not let fear keep me from making the right decision, so praying to God helped me take all that fear away. God would not let me make a bad move and ruin my future, because all He wants is for me is to be successful. The process of becoming whom I wanted to be started by figuring out what to study. Just as Frost states, And be one traveler long I stood, the days passed and I still did not know my passion. One day my mother came to me and told me, Do what you like to do, because you will do it in a daily basis.

After that day, I knew what to study because as a young boy I had a passion for mechanics. Knowing what to do for a living was just the beginning, I still did not know where to study.

The process of deciding where to study began after graduating from high school. The majority of my friends decided to stay and study in the country, but some of them including me did not have idea what to do. All of my friends that were about to start their freshman year at university told me to join them, but I was still in disagreement. The option of staying in my country was tempting the same way Frost points out, And having perhaps the better claim, because it was grassy and wanted wear; I knew that I was destined for something greater. My destination was settling, because my final decision was to study abroad. Choosing where to study was not easy for me but with God's help, everything turned out to be easier. Everything was going in the right direction; I knew what and where to study.

The only thing is that I still needed to figure out which university to attend. There were many options for me to choose from, but none of them convinced me. This was the final decision in order for me to become the person I wanted to be, and believe me the struggle of taking a decision that will determine your future is real. All universities I searched in my computer looked alike and I can relate to Frost when he says, And both that morning equally lay. It was tough for me, until one day my oldest sister told me about ORU. This university was perfect for me and I could really have an opportunity to attend. I decided to attend ORU, so studying for my standardized test was not an option for me. After completing my test I applied to ORU, so it was just a matter of time.

It was a normal day for me when the news that I was accepted at ORU came in. The first thing that came through my mind was to tell my parents, so I grabbed my phone and showed them. They were also excited for me, but they told me that I was not going to make it that Fall due to financial problems. I was not sad at all, because everything was already settle and my future was just getting better. Even though I was not going to make it that Fall I did not wanted to waste my time, so online learning was my best option. Together with my counselor, we made all the changes in order to study online. I am currently receiving online classes and cannot be happier. My mind is set in attending to ORU next spring, so I am placing my future in God's hands and hoping He will lead me through the right path. All of the process that took me to be here was worth it, but it was not an easy journey. Making those decisions have really "made all the difference" in my life, and if I could go back in time I would make the same decisions.
