Women being church leaders has been a very controversial topic for hundreds of years. According to national survey sample of 11,000 American worshipers found that 12% of all congregations in the United States had a female as their elder or sole ordained leader. It may appear to some that in this dispensation there are many different groups of people who believer in women being part of leadership. However, many people believe that women being a church leader can be explained through culture, religious but the actual definition can only be explained through the scripture.
Many try to make it seem as if male headship is the only way God created. Before you can build an understanding of women being church leaders, you first have to understand what the scriptures are honestly saying. Many women face different issues on a daily base. Including on various jobs and places women may try to go. The Christian woman today is confronted with many difficult problems. One is trying to understand the women role and function in her local place of worship.
The confusion is also intensified because women are usually not involved in the decision-making process in their area of prayer. To some, it began to create a debate about women issues from their purpose.
The women of this dispensation are distinct from the women of any other because they have women of this day are precious to everyday life. Thirty-six years ago, in 1979, according to women all around the world have been miss use and misunderstood for many years.
Have in the future in the Lord’s church and also how women would one day have a significant voice. The very first chapter of the Bible, many people we taught that women, like men, bear the image of God and were created to be equal. Wives are seen as revered partners and cherished companions to their husband. The most imperative women in the scripture were powerful not because of their occupations, but because of their character. Many women in the scripture play a role that makes the man seem as if he is a god and she just a servant — based upon in 1860 many women strategic ways to communicate the gospel through preaching and evangelize to many of the other women. They began to create a movement called the bible women bible women where women who worked under a female foreign missionary. Their responsibilities were limited to teaching the Bible to women and children. This method helped many other women to know and understand many different scriptures which they use to apply to their everyday life’s.
Women have been through many different things in the early church that some of the elements has transpired to the 20 centuries. In today dispensation women have a lot of freer will, to be able to obtain more than the early church. Many different things that were going on with women in the early church has to come to an end (Ecclesiastes 3:1) Everything there are a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven. A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up. A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing. A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
Women understand like President Spencer Kimball when he made a profound prophecy about the impact that women would have in the future in the lord’s church and also how women would one day have a major voice.[footnoteRef:5] Somethings must come to an end, in which it does.
In Religious many women are prevented from playing a major or equal role in many different faiths. Many religious people create an environment that violations a woman right. The New Testament (1 Timothy 2) say that women “must be silent.” Many religious people have used this scripture to build many people to believe women has no right to do anything in the house of god but keep silent. When you understand what the scripture is saying then you can begin to build on the foundation of what you have read. 222 Historically the church’s position on this matter followed the biblical texts such as (Genesis 3:16), where God tells Eve that her husband will rule over her, and passages where wives are listed along with a man’s other goods and chattels. This view is comprehensively confirmed in the New Testament.
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. In line with these statements’ women were until recent times not permitted to speak in church, and they are still expected to cover their heads in traditional churches. Under canon law a woman’s husband was both her sovereign and her guardian. In practical terms this meant that she could not legally own property or make contracts. She could not sue at common law without her
Husband’s consent, which meant that in particular, she could not sue him for any wrong done to her. If she deliberately killed him, she was guilty not merely of murder but, because of the feudal relationship, treason. Men and women who have attached themselves to an Apostolic church believe that women cannot be ordained to a position of authority. God created a woman to be a helper for a man. It is no mistake that God made Adam alone and incomplete Eve presence in the garden was needed. To be a good leader, you first have to become a great follower. Many churches only teach that women can be helpmate. Helpmate is created to help carry the load of the man. In the Garden, Adam feels alone so by him exploring lonely. God uses Adam to create Eve. Women’s lives were of such little consequence that they carried no weight in moral decisions. For example, what should a man do if he has promised to marry a woman, but then decides he wants to become a monk. The answer had no moral merit but satisfied the Church. We cannot live our life trying to satisfied the church.[footnoteRef:9] Trying to Satisfied the church you will live your life trying to please a group of imperfect people. The church provides Christian women with a logical, viable context in which to express themselves as help-leaders. Many women love the church because they know that Christ pledged himself as the bridegroom.
Paul then turns his attention to the headship of Priscilla, another female leader who earned Paul’s respect as a house church leader (1 Corinthians 16:19), a teacher of men (Acts 18:26), and a brave leader who risked her neck for the gospel (Romans 16:4). She is also a woman Paul celebrates as his co-worker , a distinction she shares with men such as Timothy, Titus, Epaphroditus, and Philemon. Many believe that for a woman to be a leader of some type of auxiliary the capacity she is working cannot be greater than a man’s capacity. Forth, a woman’s position in the church is to be sent out as a missionary. God wants us to go out as missionaries and reach the lost world. The bible says in Mark 15:16, “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” The first reason a woman can be sent out as a missionary is to reach other women on the field that mean cannot reach. Nicholas states, “A women can do anything- provided God is the one directing her to do it. Women are God’s persons who happen to be female.” Women are needed to help other women to come knowledge and saving grace of Christ. There will be women in the world that need to be reached that it is just not appropriate for a man to approach the woman about it, having women on the mission field has excellent benefits when trying to lead lost women to the Lord.
The second reason women can be sent out as a missionary is to work alongside her husband. Bilezikian explains, “The Lord used Lady Priscilla to travel with Paul as a missionary to start churches.” The Lord puts a woman on the field with men to help them, because there are always little details that a woman will take the time to notice and take care of. God says in His word “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor.” Ecclesiastes 4:9. Women can be significant assets in the mission field when working alone but are much appreciated when working alongside their husbands.
God gives absolute clarity of what positions a woman can hold in the church. The Bible is the best source to seek and find God’s view on the roles of women in the church. A woman can be a great asset to the church; however, there are just some positions in which should be left to the men to be the leaders. God is well pleased when His people follow Him. Although woman is not to have head authority over the church, a woman can indeed be great helpers in growing the church and reaching others with the word of the Lord. Robbins quotes this statement by Charles Hodge, “The desire for knowledge in women is not to be repressed, and the facilities for its acquisition are not to be denied them.”
