In the known history of humanity no culture or society is resistant

Categories: Slavery And Freedom

In the known history of humanity, no culture or society is resistant to discrimination, whether it be in the workforce, legislated-Apartheid, or in our day to day lives. The most recent form of discrimination known to us was Slavery in the nineteenth century, where black slaves bought to The United States for forced labor under harsh conditions. It seems like the world still believes that discrimination does not exist, but they are wrong; Discriminators still exist in our world. People always receive hate mails from people for saying the right thing.

It is not easy to do the right things in today's world. We all have been a victim or a perpetrator of discrimination, and the fact is denied, but it is true. Even I admit it.

Discrimination, by definition, is the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex. A story aired a few months ago, stating that a Harvard freshman's visa was canceled and sent back from Boston Logan International Airport back to Lebanon.

The story proposed that the student was a 17-year-old Palestinian resident of Lebanon was falsely accused of involvement in posts that opposed the political system of the US. Why him? What was his fault? They could have asked other people coming to the US, why him? These questions should be loud and clear when it comes to these kinds of problems. One clear example. Why are people from the middle east given such treatment? It is not their fault that they are stuck there.

Americans should understand that they are not superior to anyone. Countries might go to war, but people should not. Our understanding of public opinion about these situations has always been 'unconcerned.'

Another excellent example of a discriminatory narration would be On Being Cripple by Nancy Mairs. In her essay, she describes herself as a "cripple" and prefers to use that word over "handicapped" or "disabled." Mairs does this because she is tired of people treating her with sympathy just because of her 'crippled' nature. She does not want society to view her as weak or unfortunate; instead, she wants them to understand her disease from her perspective. Mairs organizes her essay by using rhetorical devices such as anecdotes to catch the reader's attention rather than by describing herself and her multiple sclerosis. The anecdotes and how each part relates to Mairs or her life is what connects the different parts. She expects us to believe that disabled people should be comforted and need an assistant. She sets out to counter them by showing how women with MS can set out and have a successful life and career like her.
