The “Cask of Amontillado” is a horror story about revenge. It is by Edgar Allan Poe and also the “The Tell-Tale Heart” is written by him. He writes in a way that is scary and afraid. He wrote many short stories and very famous for them because of how scary they are and how unique his stories are. Also “The Fall of the House of Usher” is also one of this stories that we will be comparing today. They all have a dark and scary theme to the background but still has a very good story to it, which I like.
The first story that we will be comparing today is The Cask of Amontillado. The story is about revenge, that’s the theme of the story. It’s about the narrator wanting to get revenge to a man named Fortunato. The narrator takes advantage of Fortunato’s ego and lures him to a underground vault to taste rare wine. As you can see it shows a very dark and horrific background to it.
It is scary but also has a good plot to it.
The second story is about the narrator once again wanting to kill a man and making a plan for it. All his stories are scary and have a horrific side to it. Then he tells you his perfect plan and goes through with you with his process and how he is gonna do it. He says he might get away with it but then he starts hearing things and doesn’t know for sure now.
Again you can see it shows a dark theme to the story but is still very good.
The last final story is about the narrator receives a letter from a boyhood friend wanting to go see him. They go inside the house and finds things that he didn’t come there to see. This s a classic story of an old guy living in a big creepy house. Edgar takes it back to something more classic but still gives it his way. Edgar could have switched it up but he didn’t he decided to do something a little more classic which I think we all need once in a while.
Comparing these stories they all have something pretty similar. They all have a scary theme in the background of the story. The narrator in all of them wants to do something to the character or get revenge. It also has a plan and still has a scare to it for the narrator. He wants to plot to kill a man or get revenge. That’s what they all have in similar but also have there own unique thing in their own story which makes them different.
