As a matter of authority, governments can force you to comply with laws through taxes, fines, and the power to send you to prison. The inherent power of government is what led the founders of the system to impose limitations on the power of government relative to the rights of individuals. Likewise, the power of the government leads Americans to be wary of too much government when less will do. Accordingly, I believe there should be some areas of decision-making that should be off limits to the government along with limits to the types of power that the government has to force us to comply with these decisions.
For instance, there should be a restriction on taxing.
Fiscal policy is the general name for the federal government's taxation and expenditure decisions, particularly as they affect the economy. Taxes are necessary to invest in technology, education, and to provide goods and services for the benefit of the American people. Among other things, the three biggest categories of expenditures are major health programs, such as Medicare and Medicaid, social security, and defense and security.
Regardless, the government should not be able to tax without limits. If the government were to tax without limits, those living on a budget would suffer.
The majority of the middle-class lives paycheck to paycheck with their income going directly to expenses such as a mortgage, childcare, transportation, healthcare, and education expenses and because of this taxes should not be allowed to dramatically increase. As for the death penalty, I have a contradicting opinion because no one should be able to decide whether or not one's life matters and the government should not give itself the right to kill human beings, yet there are certain circumstances in which it may seem like a necessary evil.
Those who get punished with the death penalty mostly consist of various forms of murder such as murder committed during a drug-related drive-by shooting, murder by kidnapping, murder for hire, and genocide.
There are a lot of people making bad choices after a life of trauma and in no way does it make their choices any less justifiable. Nonetheless, when you think of a life sentence what you're saying is that you have no value as a human being to ever return to society. Ultimately, the death penalty violates the constitutional ban against cruel and unusual punishment but I think it should be voted upon by the public on who receives a death penalty rather than the government solely making that decision. In addition to both taxes and death penalties, another topic governments should be limited to is abortions.
