Titanic is based on a love story, even though it is fictional it brings a different side to the history of the Titanic. The film begins with a view of Titanic’s wreckage, it is being explored in hopes of finding a diamond necklace, known as the Heart of the Ocean. A few Divers found a drawing of a young lady naked wearing the necklace. The team then broadcasted the picture, and an older lady named Rose Dawson Calvert (Gloria Stuart) calls the team, and she tells them she is the woman in the photo.

She meets up with them and begins to tell her story about the Titanic, the story is told in flashbacks back in 1912. An upper-class woman, Rose (Kate Winslet), her mother Ruth and Fiancé Cal board the ship. In the film, Rose doesn’t have much control over her life being that her mother wants her to marry Cal, who receive an inheritance once he gets married.

Ruth believes that this will solve their family’s financial problem. Rose is deeply upset by the arrangement, which causes her to consider committing suicide. At this point in the film, Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) a lower-class man, comes and stops Rose from jumping. When Cal learns that Jack has “saved” rose, he decides to invite Jack to dinner in the first-class section. Later that night, Jack and Rose attend a party in the third-class section of the ship. They both develop a friendship, which neither her Mother nor Cal agree with.

Rose takes jack to

her room with the idea of Jack to sketching her naked for the drawing, with the “Heart of the ocean” necklace on. Cal finds the picture and has jack arrested by setting him up and putting the diamond necklace in his coat pocket. The ship then hits a huge iceberg, and they realize that it is a serious matter. Rose saves Jack from the flooding room he was handcuffed in. When everyone begins to board the lifeboats both Jack and Cal try to convince her to get on one boat that was only boarding women and children. The ship divides into two parts, and they both fall into the ocean. Jack saves rose by having her get onto a wood panel that only fits one person. Jack dies of hypothermia and Rose makes it onto a lifeboat. Later, Rose reads that Cal committed suicide. She finishes her story, goes out on the deck and drops the diamond necklace right into the sea.
