A Story About Not Simple Real Life

The foreign movie that have caught my attention is Parasite. The thrilling tragic comedy parasite is basically about the struggling “Kim” family. A family who rely on cunning and manipulation to survive on their harsh society. They then find a place to leech which is the Park’s family, they soon build a relationship with the wealthy “Park” family and then eventually their greed along with some healthy class discrimination threatens to undo them all. The movie story tackles a lot of important big things going on in our society telling it in a universal sense that everyone can relate to regardless of where they call home.

Parasite plays in much more shades of gray with our represented drastically different social classes and as a result is a much more complicated and compelling tale painting it so that no one is blatantly good or bad real life isn't that simple.

First scene, immediately dives us headfirst into the desperate difficult world of the struggling Kim family.

Their semi-subterranean apartment speaks volumes about as low as you could possibly go without literally being a mole person. The Park’s on the other hand basically filthy rich, a family with power, which hired Ki Woo in the Kim family for English tutor job. Slowly and slowly the Kim family getting a job leeching on the Park’s family the way they did it is get the house keeper, the driver in Park’s home fired by using dirty tactic. After the driver and the house keep got fire, the son and the daughter in Kim’s family introduce their mother and father to replace the driver and housekeeper’s job.

Not only that when the Park’s family having a camping trip, the Kim’s family started to invade the home like it was their home, enjoying the rich life for once. Then while the Kim’s enjoying their moment, the housekeeper which then ring the door bell that said she forgot something in the basement. The Kim’s found out that not only them are leeching off the Park’s family. The housekeeper been keeping her husband under a basement to hide him from a huge debt. Her husband isn’t normal either due to the fact that he been in the basement for so long. Then the conflict started after the housekeeper heard about the Kim’s family plan, so then the housekeeper record as evidence to show the Park’s family. A fight happened and the Kim’s have won, deleted the evidence and lock them under the secret basement. However unfortunate for them, The Park’s family have to cancel the camping trip. Since it was night time and they weren’t supposed to be there. The Kim’s family quickly clean the mess and return home.

When they get home the house all flooded with water which and then the son found a rock of fortune, represent his greed. Then since the house if flooded with water, they decided to seek different shelter and in the shelter the son apologize for leading his family into the rich family. Finally, near the end the Park family invited the Kim family over for her son birthday party. That then lead to the son wanted to end everything and try to kill the housekeeper and her husband, it didn’t go as planed and the housekeeper’s husband give the son a concussion instead. Then housekeeper’s husband started grabbing knife killing the Park’s family outside of a birthday party which lead the movie into a thriller moment. When the daughter of Kim’s family get stabbed, the dad in the Park family tell the dad of the Kim’s family to give him the key to take her to hospital. But because the dad in Kim’s family is poor, and a distinctive smell the dad in Park’s family hold his nose while holding the key which led anger in the dad of the Kim’s family. The dad in Kim’s family so then stabbed the dad of the Park’s family. In the end the son promises to bring his family fortune and wealth in but it just ended in a disaster.

The movie in my opinion have such a great story. It tells that greed in the end will always lead to bad ending. They also show comedy and thriller in one movie, whether is the camera transition and scene and sound effect just really all connected. Every individual starts off with equal access to opportunity and can therefore compete on an equal playing field, which is simply not the truth. And when we look at the poor characters in parasite fighting amongst themselves, trying to maintain their subordinate positions, we see that there is no attempt or even ability to overthrow the prevailing system of domination but rather it's a competition between the poor of who can be the least destitute.
