Thesis: The Daily Show segment “Catching Racism” author Jon Stewart bring attention to how effective the use of satire in The Daily Show is and the positive political effect it has on people.

Amarnath Amarasingam “The Stewart/Colbert Effect” was published in 2011. This book discusses the issues in politics and how using satire to bring entertainment and comedy to give the audience a much more effective way to understand the significance of political communication. This book gives an economic and social view on how today’s pop culture views politics and how using sartorial expression is becoming more helping to understand the real issues of the political world.

This relates to my thesis because it gives specific detail to its effective use of satirical is and how it helps people feel proficient enough as to commenting on political discussion. Sarah Burton used her knowledge that she learned from her ‘Media of Ethics’ course to write about the debate of satirical use. She graduated from Pennsylvania State University earning her masters in Media Studies in December 2010 through the undergrad/graduate program.

Joanna Doona article ‘Political comedy engagement: Identity and community construction’ was published on December 1st, 2018. This article discusses communities and political issues on how satire is used in today’s pop culture. Doona article gives you an insight into how influential comedians can be. Comedians intend to use a positive effect to get their point through using satire. It also discusses the role of these satirical news shows and how it puts a positive effect on the public. Doona article expresses the values the communities have on fake news. This article relates to my thesis because of its relevance to my primary source on how pop culture focuses more on fake news than real news. Joanna Doona is a Lecturer and Post Doc Researcher in Media and Communication Studies at the Department of Communication and Media at Lund University, Sweden. She completed her Ph.D. in 2016 with the thesis Political comedy engagement which was awarded Best Doctoral Thesis published in Sweden in 2015–2016, by the Swedish Association for Media and Communication Research (FSMK).

The sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live “Political Impersonations on Saturday Night Live during the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election” was published in European Journal of American studies in 2016. This article platforms the use of impersonating or joking about political views to influence their audience to see the whole point of the humor is to have a decisive impact on political issues. The article describes how satire is used for crisis and the main reason they use it is to help improve humanity by criticizing its follies and Imperfection. Hakola talks about how important it is to use satirical. Joking about political topics puts pressure on misinformation that the audience wants to know more about the issue. Outi Hakola is a docent in Area and Cultural Studies (University of Helsinki) and a docent in societal media studies (University of Turku). Currently, she is an Academy of Finland Research Fellow at the Area and Cultural Studies (University of Helsinki).
