Ethics embodies honesty, accountability, integrity, empathy and just knowing the difference between what is right and what is wrong. Ethics to me is the principles of right and wrong that individuals to make choices that guide their behavior. Being in the military for 24 years, I learn ethics include responsibility, accountability, and liability.
In the Army responsibility means that you accept the consequences of your decisions and accountability of your actions that were taken. Liability is a legal concept that gives individuals the right to recover the damages done to them by our actions.
Learning and growing in the military help me respect one’s own goals and aspirations but taking others’ goals.
Learning to use ethic in everyday life, you can use to determine what you ought to do in a situation and helps you to figure out a decision of right or wrong. Being a leader in Army I had a lot of responsibility and accountability. I was able to take what I learn on ethic and apply them to my soldiers and was able to understand them also.
Now being on the civilian side ethic values are very different compare on being in the military. I had standards to follow by but on the civilian side it’s not implements as strong in the military on ethic values. There is a big different on civilian side on responsibility and accountability. I'm still in my military mode, so still use what I learn in the military on ethic at work and everyday life.
