Dream Analysis

When I was little I used to always have the same dream. I was at my grandparent’s old house and it was the middle of the night in their front yard. I was wondering around and when I looked up into the sky there was this huge white bird flying around the mood and the roof of the house. When it finally landed by this pond, I would walk up to it and I just stand there for what seemed like hours. I don’t remember ever talking in the dream or the bird making noises, but about two years later the dream changed.

After the bird landed by the pond, this business guy in a tall hat comes up and tries to buy the bird from me, I didn’t let him and the bird flew away. I haven’t had the dream in a while, and I don’t think there’s any latent content connected to this dream. The manifest content is that I really enjoyed being at my grandparent’s house when I was little, I still don’t why there was a huge bird flying around. I’m a weird sleeper, and I think it affects my dreaming.

I usually get around seven or eight hours of sleep a night, not including the time I wake up in the middle of the night, which is around 4:30 or 5:00 am. I never take naps, I think I wouldn’t sleep as well if I took a nap in the middle of the day or when I get home from school. I’d be up all night and I’d sleep less. And even worse I can’t sleep in on the weekends anymore, for one I have work on the weekends and two, I just naturally wake up at 7:00 in the morning anyway. So my sleeping schedule is pretty constant.

Before I even think of closing my eyes before I go to sleep, I have to have noise playing around me; I can’t turn my mind off without something distracting it. The sound of something playing around me just brings that comfort level around and it’s easier to crash out. I never really have a constant feeling when I wake up, some nights I sleep better than others; I think it just depends on what position I fell asleep in. And that all matters to how I move around the next morning, I usually feel groggy after I wake up, and I’m tired for about three hours, or until I fully wake up.

I remember every dream I have, because they’re all reoccurring dreams I’ve had for years, or they’re just really strange. But it gets harder to recall them after a couple nights. One way psychologists say to get more quality sleep is to keep a sleep routine, picking a set time to wake and sleep keeps your natural sleep cycle going and is easier to get better sleep. I think the strategy I’ll follow is to stop eating and drinking before bed because things you eat such spicy and acidic food interferes with sleep, and I always have caffeine or some kind of snack right before bed.
