Crucifixion of Jesus

Crucifixion is a form of execution or punishment for those of the worst crimes. It was a very popular form of execution throughout Eastern Europe and Western Asia. Many groups such as the Indians, Scythians, Celts, Germani, Britanni, Taurians, Persians, Carthaginians, Phoenicians, Greeks, and mostly the Romans all commonly used crucifixion. The actual method of crucifixion is quite simple. The man being crucified is placed on a cross or some other sort of frame (usually a cross), that he carries to the spot where he will be crucified, with their hands nailed to each wing of the cross.

His feet are tied to the bottom. As he hangs by his hands, he slowly suffocates. It is a long and painful death as many observers had described it.

Why Jesus Was Crucified

Jesus was crucified for a few reasons. The Jews had him crucified because they thought he was opposing the state gods. The Romans had to do it in order to mitigate bloodshed.

The Roman judge had no choice; he gave many ideas of punishment, but could not please the Jews. Jesus was also crucified for the fulfillment of his prophecy.

All Jesus was really trying to do was show the Jews how they had forgotten the spiritual part of their religion. He never wanted to a new religion. The Jews thought he was denying their state gods in which they believed was vital to their survival. Therefore, the Jews stopped at nothing to have him crucified for blasphemy. They wanted nothing but it; no other punishment was gruesome enough.

Why Crucifixion is Crucial to Christianity

Jesus’ destiny to be crucified was indeed a crucial thing that needed to be done. God put him here to free the people from their suffering and sins. The pain Jesus went through on the cross was beyond the limit of a human being. He was strong and completed his prophecy thus creating Christianity. The roman judge gave countless offers to the Jews, but no matter what he said they continued to chant crucifixion. Even before his crucifixion he was whipped almost till death with metal chains and barbed wire. In my opinion Jesus was really misunderstood. His word was peaceful had no hostile meaning. The Jews that were in power demanding the crucifixion only wanted to maintain there power and wealth and not lose it to some peasant who came from a low class family.

Did Christ Suffer on the Cross?

Did Jesus suffer on the cross? This is a very confusing, mind-bobbling question and response. It is so difficult to wrap my head around it. I have learned that Jesus does not suffer due to his immortalities. However, in order to fulfill his prophecy he must suffer on the cross through crucifixion. Thus, forgiving the sins of his followers. How does one do this if he is incapable of suffering? This is the confusing part. Well, the way I see it is, as man he suffered greatly on that cross. Being nailed to and hung from an 8-foot cross brings excruciating pain among its victim. Now spiritually he did not suffer, meaning as the Son of God he did not suffer. Being the Son of God he is almost considered immortal, but to someone’s eye he is mortal. The Crucifixion of Jesus has always had my head lost. There are so many contradictions such as how he suffered but also did not suffer. Or, how such a brutal thing could be the Son of God’s duty on earth. The god Christians worship to be so forgiving and holy yet claims his own son must be crucified.
