Davao City is the most progressive city in Mindanao. It is one of the safest and cleanest cities in the Philippines. These qualities make Davao City as
one of the best tourist destinations in the country. Like other top tourist destinations, Davao offers a wealth of picturesque landscapes and a variety of unique natural attractions. With its numerous astounding tourist attractions to offer, millions of foreign tourists as well as locals flock to this renowned tourist destination each year. Metro Davao is also known as a convention centre in Southern Philippines.
This position is the reason why it became the premier city in the whole Philippines. There are more than 2,500 hotels and resorts in the city in the year 1999 and is projected to grow more due to the increasing demand for conventions and tourist attractions but some travelers’ that visit metro Davao doesn’t know the exact details or guide in their tour. On the other hand, Business nowadays become much more convenient and easy thanks to the new technology basically the computer that really helps a lot and made work much progressive, productive and time efficient.
Thus, we conducted a research and create the Davao’s Tourist Guide and Reservation System for our dear tourist to help them pick the best and the most convenient place they want to spend their vacation. In addition, it can also provide the travelers an easy way to reserved rooms, fine dining, and outdoor destinations from home via the internet by using online security to protect their privacy and financial information from the top 5 most visited and the best five hotels, resort and restaurants. The system will give them a reservation form and they’ll just fill up the form and give all the information that will be ask there and after complying all the details, they will be officially reserved it to the place that they choose. Therefore, the system is helpful for making last minute travel arrangements that can made vacation trip will really be something you’ll enjoy as it made worth your while.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Rapid change is everywhere; the world is aggressively in expansion mode. Over the past few years technology has taken over society. Everyone uses technology, from children and teenagers to adults and elders. Technology is vital in today’s world and makes everything easier. Technology has influenced people and their daily lives. Computers allow access to multiple programs; works can be done a lot faster. Globalization is a trendy way of
describing how far a business can reach its customers. Computers provide cost-effective functions for production, sales and shipping. Computers simplify business transactions and enable products and services to be sold across the globe. With them, you can file and store more information than thousands of file folders and cabinets. The purpose of any business is to extend and increase its profit and business in large.
Technology is proving really good for the hotel business. Applying hotel management system will help in making things easier for the hotel front desk in handling the guest and other activities of the hotel business. Guest management system in a hotel will simplify booking, billing and payments processes. Most of the times the guest comes from a long and tiring journey and they want to be shown their room as quickly as possible. There are too many things which a front desk requires to do to fulfill the check-in process which all the hotels follow religiously. Since there is an automated system, personnel enable to reduce the time the guest consumed at the desk. The quicker the system more will be the appreciation from the tired guests. Personnel manage appropriately the records, billings and payments of the hotel.
The main problem of this study is the inaccurate reservation of the customer and inaccurate information of the hotel.

STATEMENT OF GOALS/OBJECTIVES
Our goal is to provide software system that will help our tourist to increase revenue because it saves processing time and help to provide better management for room reservation booking system.Our focus on the people using our systems drives us to create usable and intuitive methods for reserving complex travel. Computer nowadays makes work processes more efficient and reliable from manual operations of different firms. With the power of technology nowadays, people get interested with computers. They try to indulge themselves on it to have a productive result in a more efficient and time saving process. It is highly valued in institutions like business enterprises schools, hospitals, government and non-government services. Reservation and Billing is a computerized system which is a systematized process of security and availability of certain goods and services for a certain event or need of a customer and calculate the corresponding cost of the chosen goods and services for payments. It is an organized system that does not only handles booking transactions but also keeps and tracks the records of the clients (resort billing and hotel reservations).
This study aims to solve the problems encountered and to change the manual reservation system of the management. To create a system that will reduce the time consumed and error in the reservation process. To create a system that will reduce the operational cost of the company. To improve the productivity and increase in sales of the company. To create Webpage Development Information System of the Management. To provide a secured data Base storage for the management Information. To make an online reservation system for the customers of Sole Destinations Travel & Tours. Specific Objectives. To make a computer based system that will lead for the benefit of the customer and the management. To put into practice what has been learned recently.
To improve values such as self-discipline, patience, perseverance, innovativeness, resourcefulness, etc.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY/PROJECT RATIONALE
The purpose of this study is to conduct a Reservation System that will help our tourist to pick the right place they want to spend their vacations and to help those companies that is using manual system of customer reservation and to reduce some common problems that exist. With this computerized reservation system the common problem exists that the hotel encountered in processing customer record will be minimized. It will allow them to manage and facilitate the job in an accurate and reliable way.
The main function of the proposed Online reservation System is help the Management to promote and advertised and easy booking for our guest and will also make their operation easier especially in booking and to the customer information. They will no longer supper delays when their customer needs to check in. This will also make their operation easier especially in accessing the records and customer information. This Study will also help proponents as a student to develop the ability in making program and to apply our knowledge and ability what we have learned in schools.
SCOPE & LIMITATIONS
This study is conducted to know the reason behind the proponents on how will their purposed systems will help the Management. Reservation System is fully scalable and designed to provide extensive flexibility and varied choices. Typical reservation and ecommerce system software reservation solutions currently in place and available today are technically designed to achieve only one objective function, which is to connect buyer to seller. This study mainly focused on providing retailing business application using computerized system that enables businesses to track services and aims to provide accurate and reliable process on every transaction especially in a management reservation. This study looked into a better impact of using technology today on how it affects our daily lives especially for being the customer. With this studies it can help our beneficiaries to know the differences of using manual system to a computerized generation today, prioritize is to prove and to give them the right information. Tourist Guide and Reservation System are designed to manage all types of management bookings, made directly to our dear tourist. Limitations of our System:
Reservation by the customer is available online by filling up the reservation form. Customer can also make a reservation through phone or by walk-in. The system is through online. Displays only the top five Hotels, Restaurants and Resorts in Davao region based on the TripAdvisor site. Customer can only pay in PayPal.
REVIEW OF RELATED STUDIES/LITERATURE
The system is a tourist guide and reservation which covers only in Davao city that serves as the main trade, commerce, and industry hub of Mindanao
and the regional center for Davao Region. It is a home to natural wonders. In addition, white sand beaches and other manmade attractions with several hotels, inns and restaurants add up to the convenience and comfort of the visitors.
The system is composed of three categories which are hotel, resort and restaurants. Firstly, is the hotel it is an establishment that provides paid lodging on a short-term basis. The provision of basic accommodation, in times past, consisting of many kinds of different rooms like the following:
- Double -one double bed which is suitable for up to two people sharing.
- Twin – two single beds, suitable for up to two people sharing.
- Triple – Three Single Beds, suitable for up to three people sharing.
- Family Room – one double and two single beds. A family room can only accommodate 2 adults and 2 children under the age of 12 years of age.
- Suite – A Hotel Suite, typically with one King Sized bed, suitable for two people sharing.
- Single – One single bed, suitable for one person.
Next, is the restaurant that prepares and serves food and drink to customers in return for money. Meals are generally served and eaten on premises, but many restaurants also offer take-out and food delivery services. Restaurants vary greatly in appearance and offerings, including a wide variety of the main chef’s cuisines and service models. Modern restaurants are dedicated to the serving of food, where specific dishes are ordered by guests and are prepared to their request. Restaurants range from unpretentious lunching or dining places catering to people working nearby, with simple food served in simple settings at low prices, to expensive establishments serving refined food and wines in a formal setting. In the former case, customers usually wear casual clothing. In the latter case, depending on culture and local traditions, customers might wear semi-casual, semi-formal, or even in rare cases formal wear. Restaurants often specialize in certain types of food or present a certain unifying, and often entertaining, theme.
For example, there are seafood restaurants, vegetarian restaurants or ethnic restaurants. Generally speaking, restaurants selling food characteristic of the local culture are simply called restaurants, while restaurants selling food of foreign cultural origin are called accordingly. Lastly, the resort is a place used for relaxation or recreation, attracting visitors for vacations and/or tourism. Resorts are places, towns or sometimes commercial establishment operated by a single company. Moreover, the researchers based their finest top five from Tripadvisor which is a travel website providing reviews of travel-related content. It also includes interactive travel forums. TripAdvisor was an early adopter of user-generated content. The website services are free to users, who provide most of the content, and the website is supported by an advertising business model.

PROPOSED METHODOLOGY/ TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION
The researchers gathered all ideas and possible requirements that can be used to build our system, and assigned certain task to each member of the group to make the job faster. The members analyzed the trouble on manual reservation and came up with solutions on how to solve the problem. In addition, the designing of the system have been achieved through an objected software tools. In designing or prototype we used Notepad++ and mySQL.
DATA GATHERING PROCEDURES & OUTPUTS
Over the past months, the researchers have witnessed an ongoing information revolution brought by the Internet. They have learned to harness the Internet for more efficient communication and secured information. These benefits have enabled us to bring many aspects of our lives online. The researchers have decided to apply the benefits of the internet in our local businesses. This is to improve the quality of their services towards their clients and customers. Though their management is almost perfect, researchers found that something is lacking in their business especially in their reservation. The research covers the solution for long and slow processing of transaction for reservation. They also found that they can improve that system by making it online. Make it easy for resort’s guests or customers to reserve a pool, hotel or even in their function hall that hold parties and any kind of event. One of the exciting ways in which the internet serves as a general service tool is in the field of information retrieval and operations. Computer-based information retrieval operates through the use of software that can offer information services for the system. An online reservation system provides a way to electronically access, retrieve, and transmit information’s.
With the power of technology nowadays, people get interested with computers. The existence of many sophisticated computer systems and various innovations that we find in this Information Age justifies the age old saying that necessity is the mother of all inventions. The need to share information in a so called ‘global network’ and man’s desire to communicate from long distances called for the birth of the World Wide Web. With the advent of the internet, many of the mundane tasks and businesses that people conducted were made feasible. Things like buying and selling various products can now be done online. The consumer no longer needs to moves from his location. A few clicks from his mouse will suffice enough to do the job. You can now also earn a degree by taking an online education.
It is no wonder that booking hotel rooms can now be done in a more convenient way today. If a certain traveler is planning to visit a foreign place, it would be hard for him if he does not have a hotel or residence to reside in that country. Before, booking a certain hotel room required long processes such as talking to an hotelier either in person or through the phone. Just imagine the disposition of the hotelier if multiple clients came to ask questions about reservations at the same time. Through an online hotel reservation system, hoteliers and travelers will both be benefited. Hotels have minimal need of travel agents to look for clients because information about their business establishment is readily available online. Originally, computer reservation systems were created for airlines travels. But later on, they were found of great use to resorts, restaurants and hotels also.
