The novel begins with Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the two tributes from District 12, returning home after winning the 74th Hunger Games. However, Katniss is also dealing with the aftermath of her actions in the previous novel, which has left her feeling guilty and confused.Back at home, Katniss and Peeta are preparing for the upcoming 75th Hunger Games, which is known as the Quarter Quell. The tributes for this special Hunger Games are chosen by lottery, and Katniss is horrified to discover that she has been chosen as a tribute once again. As the Games begin, Katniss quickly realizes that the other tributes are more prepared and more dangerous than she anticipated. She also quickly forms a bond with another tribute, Finnick Odair, who helps her survive the initial bloodbath.As the Games progress, it becomes clear that there is more at stake than just survival. The Capitol is clearly up to something, and Katniss soon finds herself in the middle of a rebellion. With the help of her allies, she must try to survive the Games and uncover the Capitol’s secrets.
